I’ll never forget the first time we walked into our
house home. I found it on-line one evening after a very long, frustrating home search. We had just relocated back to Michigan and were renting while we searched for the best option. I drove by a couple times getting a bit dizzy (picture a redheaded lady driving in circles 😆 ) on the cauldesac that it sits on until I finally set up an appointment with our realtor to go see the inside. From the exterior, it stood out from the others with it’s very charming traditional face, and non-cookie-cutter theme. I couldn’t wait to see what the interior had to offer.
A few days later our realtor met us here (the house was green then), and we were all impressed with the long circular driveway, and beautiful forest in the center. The house is nestled up and into the trees on that circular driveway and there’s water behind it. It was almost as if it was a big tree house just waiting for us to play inside. Our realtor hit it on the nose when we were walking inside the front door she whispered, “This could be the one.”
Little did we know that we were about to change our lives in so many ways. Not only have our 2 babies grown up here, but this house has provided our family with many opportunities through redheadcandecorate.com. It’s way more than just a pretty face. It’s a symbol of our love and dedication to our family.
10 years have gone by since we moved in so I think it’s a great time to look back and celebrate all of our hard work. I hope you enjoy our “10 Years of DIY Makeovers Before & After Photo Tour”. It’s packed full of before & after photos of our DIY home improvement projects- so if you click the blue links it will take you directly to that tutorial/post.

Your home is so beautiful. I love all of your pictures. Can you tell me the covering on your back deck, is it metal? We are thinking of something like this for our deck. Did you have it custom made? It makes this space so inviting. We will be retiring soon and plan to have a lot more time to sit and relax outside.
Hi Lycinda, I wrote all about the canopy in this post. We kept it up all winter except the fabric came down. I see it’s still available. Here’s the info https://redheadcandecorate.com/2018/07/graduation-party-ideas/
