Rick and I have been married since 1994 after meeting in our college dorm ♥️. Welcome to our home tucked in the woods here in Southeast, Michigan. It’s hard to believe we have lived in this house for 12 years, and our young kiddos are now full grown adults. When we moved in, not only were the kids little rascals, but we had our hands full with a dated, neglected home.
While my husband was busy at work, and our oldest was ill with the beginning stages of autoimmune disease, I took out my stress while she was asleep, and started painting the unusually large island in the middle of our kitchen. Painting the island not only provided therapy for me, but it sparked a domino effect that began my career in the DIY home decorating blogging community. Ironically enough, our incredibly strong daughter is the one who told me I should become a home decorating blogger shortly after that island was finished. Our brave son who has also battled illness, also rooted me/us on. They truly both inspired us, and continue to do so today.
12 years later, here we are on redheadcandecorate.com and the entire home has been updated DIY style by my husband, and myself. Our style isn’t something you’ll find on TV networks, or in popular stores. In fact, I think you’ll find it’s unique in that we don’t have one specific style. We follow our heart and soul.
