While visiting the dollar store recently, I noticed a very sparkly, red cursive “Love” sign, and knew immediately that I had to have it. You see, I had this very old, boring, Christmas wreath that I have used for many, many years on our apartment door. I kept thinking the lady across the hall was noticing how weathered it was. In reality, she’s very young and busy, so I don’t even think she knows it exists π. Me on the other hand, knew the wreath needed either a complete makeover, or a garbage can. I hope you enjoy how I turned this “Boring Christmas Wreath into Beautiful Valentine’s Day Wreath” which is part of this years first edition of the Thrifty Style Team.
This first photo below of the wreath in the spotlight today doesn’t truly show the issues it was having because they are hiding behind my edits, and bulb replacements. However, believe me when I say this little lady needed some new bulbs, and a fresh outlook in 2023!

Dollar Store Inspiration for the Upcycled Valentine’s Day Wreath
In the photo above you’ll see how cute the “Love” heart sign was that I found at the dollar store. My husband was waiting in the car for me π, so I quickly ran around the store finding things that I thought might enhance the old wreath and take it into Valentine’s Day for the next couple years. I ended up spending only $5 to upcycle the Christmas wreath into this…
Holy red bulbed babe! Doesn’t the wreath just look so cute, and festive for Valentine’s Day now?! Before she was just hanging out in sweat pants and staying home eating left over pasta. After this makeover this wreath is ready to show off her new accessories and go out on the town dressed for a big steak and some red wine π·.
Here’s the updated wreath on our front porch-whoops, I mean apartment front porch door π.
How to Turn a Boring Christmas Wreath into Beautiful Valentine’s Day Wreath
Turning this wreath into pretty Valentine’s Day decor really didn’t take much effort at all. I’m fortunate to still have our big dining table in our new modern temporary apartment, so I was able to use a big paper bag to put the wreath on while I worked on it (working on projects like this I find is so relaxing).
The very first thing I had to do was replace a few of the cracked bulbs which I did simply by pulling the old off, and wiring on a few new ones. You may notice I missed one of the red bulbs at the very bottom, but that’s ok.

The only primping left to get this gorgeous Valentine’s Day wreath ready for her debut with the other 9 Thrifty Style Team Projects, was just gluing on the $1.00 “love” cutout, white hearts, and little foam balls/hearts. That’s it!

Julie – this is definitely a beautiful Valentines Day wreath! You always have the best ideas!
Gosh awesome
Thank you!
So cute! I am going to try a similar one I think! Also, your father was so much in my thoughts during the Buffalo blizzard. My cousin was trapped in her house 2 days.
Thank you for your concern, Nancy! He handled it very well. Iβm glad your cousin is ok!
The Valentines wreath is absolutely adorable! Great job!
Thank you!
What a fabulously bold and stylish wreath and it looks great on your front door. You gave me a inspiration to make one for my front door.
Love the upcycled wreath and I love that you found your items at the dollar store in minutes while your husband was waiting in the car (been there done that!) LOL. What a great way to get a new look for less!
The funniest part is that when I was done, I went out and couldn’t find him π. There was a brick column blocking us. Hard to explain, but it was funny. Thank you, Cindy! Can’t wait to check out your tree!
Julie, you did it again! Took something plain & gave it your one of a kind touch! It looks so pretty on your front door too. So thankful to be a part of this talented team. π
A quick and easy makeover with a “wow” finish! Now that’s my kind of craft. Love it!
I like the Valentine’s Day version of this wreath way better than the Christmas one. What a wonderful makeover!
That is the cutest wreath and I love that you repurposed a holiday wreath and didnβt have to buy a new one for Valentineβs Day, best thrifty idea.
Julie, your Valentine’s wreath looks amazing! I just love how you spent only 5 bucks at the dollar store to create this makeover. What a transformation! Pinned π
