Snowy Fall Spiced Wreath

Facebooktwitterpinterestmail

My “Snowy Fall Spiced Wreath” wasn’t always so “spicy”. In fact, it’s parts were scattered all over the house, in different rooms, in different boxes. It wasn’t until my friend, Angie, from Postcards from the Ridge invited me to participate in her lovely fall home tour that I realized “shopping the house” really works. Have you ever tried it? If not, I think this fall/early winter wreath will convince you to give it a whirl, especially when we are all trying to stay home more often.

The Fall Ideas Tour

This DIY simple Snowy Fall Spiced Wreath captures both fall and winter in a beautiful wreath that can be made on a tight budget.

When Angie first invited all 21 of us to the “Fall Ideas Tour”, I went back-and-forth because I love being in tours, but I honestly wasn’t ready to admit fall was approaching ๐Ÿ˜–. About a week after I declined, I was down in our basement, and I came across my colorful fall leaf garland. Then my peripheral vision caught this fluffy white pom-pom wreath hanging on the wall in the Christmas corner. It was then, that an autumn fairy swooped down from the dusty rafters and whisked me off into fall ๐Ÿ˜Š. I couldn’t resist, I just had to be in the tour.

So, now that the fall fairy held me captive, I needed to seriously get my wreath game going.

Fluffy White Pom-Pom Wreath

The first thing I did, was wrap the fall leaf garland around the white fluffy pom-pom wreath (I originally bought the wreath a few years ago at HomeGoods). You may remember this white fluffy girl in these other posts below. It actually still had fairy lights wrapped around it, so all I had to do was replace the batteries to light it up.

Faux Leaf Garland & Other Supplies

You may also remember how I used this colorful faux fall leaf garland for our Cozy Fall Porch. I had originally found this garland at JoAnn’s, but I have some from the dollar store, too. In fact, my kids use it all year round in their bedrooms ๐Ÿ˜†.

After I was confident that the 3 strands of leaf garland would lay nicely on the wreath just by securing with a little wire, I was ready to add more embellishments to the wreath to help convince myself it was worthy for this tour.

Holy leaf blowers, I couldn’t get over how pretty the leaf garland looked on the white “snow”. It totally reminded me of an early snow fall, which we have often up here in Michigan. It really is a unique sight to see colorful fall foliage laying on a white blanket of snow.

Then, when I added the berries I had from this post, and my old pine cones I’ve had forever from our yard, I just couldn’t believe how beautifully it all flowed together. In addition, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fall wreath portray this version of Mother Nature at her very best, have you? Usually it’s either leaves, or snow…but never together.

After everything was secure with wire, my daughter helped me pick the perfect fall colored Christmas bulbs out of our stash, I lit up the fairy lights, and I added small pieces of pillow filler just by sticking it in there to make it look more like snow. All the little finishing touches really made it look so beautiful.

What’s really nice too, is that with the combination of fall and winter here, I can easily leave this wreath on our front door from September through to the end of November. That’s 3 months ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป.

Before I lead you to the rest of the fall tour, below you’ll find a double source list with several ideas for “shopping your home” for supplies, or substituting some of the supplies if you want to try to create your own “Snowy Fall Spiced Wreath”.

You gotta admit, she sure is spicy and would look great on your door, or mantel ๐Ÿ˜Š. Remember: your wreath doesn’t have to look exactly like mine. Use what you can find in your home, and have fun with this.

That wreath is pretty cute, but I’m hoping that I don’t see any leaves on top of snow this fall in Minnesota!

Recycle, reuse, upcycle it all works and you’ve shown just how great it can be to create a beautiful wreath with items you already have. I love doing this too. It feels good not to have to spend time and money buying things and there’s something so fun when you have a challenge to get creative. Well done Julie!
