I definitely need a break from all of the pandemic news, how about you? Of course, before I get to my “Rustic Romantic Bedroom Makeover”, I want you to know how thankful I am to have you as a friend following along here at redheadcandecorate.com. I find this little blog nook is a wonderful, positive escape from negativity, stress, and at times, sadness. I will do my very best to be as creative as possible the next few months (and always 😎), so please stop back often because I am not going anywhere any time soon. I also hope you are staying close to home.
If you remember this first photo below of our master bedroom, you have been following along for 8 years. Isn’t that just crazy? 😉😇 I’ll never forget when I first discovered how nice the DIY Memory Bench looked at the foot of our bed. It added a country flare to the space and it’s still there 8 years later.
Even though the bench has stayed put and become a step ladder for our cats, and a resting spot for us to put on our shoes, many other things have changed. A better word might be “evolved”. MOST RECENT CHANGES MADE:
-New Rustic Industrial Vintage Sconces-found on Etsy (read details below).
–Vintage style tube light bulbs.
–Oval mirror (from our powder room) replaced my old wall art that I switched to our master bathroom.
–New (very affordable) duvet cover & king sham pillows covers.
-Kitty cat…she has lost 2 pounds! 😆
-Fur throw is from Arhaus and was a gift from them back at Christmas time.
Now, although I absolutely LOVE these new plug in wall sconces (because they free up our night stands, and are so romantic & cozy) I am not recommending the seller because although he replaced the first set that was the wrong size, the replacements he sent barely had any stain on them and as you can see below the wood isn’t sealed. So, my advice would be to make these yourself 🤔, or ask someone that you know that is handy to make them for you 😆. All kidding aside, you could get them on Etsy like I did, but make sure you tell him about my complaints. Just search “Industrial Wall Sconce” on the Etsy website.
I gotta tell ya that this bed has been my life saver the last 6 weeks since lipo & mini-tummy tuck surgery. Believe it or not, I am still healing and I am still in lots of pain. The Dr. insists that I am healing well, but I have extreme hypersensitive nerves and it makes for a really long recovery period. I am extremely happy with the results though, and plan to share them in a few more weeks. My tummy looks like it did 25 years ago 🤭! I’m just not sure if this pain was worth it. I guess I will answer that after the pain ends.
Sending virtual hugs to everyone reading this at this very difficult time in our history. Stay home as much as you can (all 4 of us are home and staying here), wash your hands often, and read my blog every day, lol. XO

I love what you did! I redid a boring bath downstairs with our Brazilian memories. It really warmed it up and it isn’t sitting in a box. In the process my sewing room is getting a refresh and I am reorganizing my stash. That is a huge project. Our homes are always a good thing to keep us busy. There is always something. I love your site. I simply love your black wood trim and kitchen cabs which are so bold and inspiring. I do have one concern, your pages take a very long time to download. Am I the only person who has this problem.
Thank you, Maureen! I want you to know that the trim looks black in the photos and sometimes in person, too. However it os a dark expresso brown. I still love it after 11 years, but need to do the upstairs still 🤣
I’m sorry to hear you are still in so much pain. Doesn’t sound normal to me. But I had 4 small spots “lazered” on my face almost two months ago and they haven’t faded yet! Hang in there.locc V Er the bedroom.
Thank you! I had my upper abdomen, lower abdomen, waste, back bra roll and tummy tuck done at same time. So, unfortunately, yes this can be normal for some folks. I plan to warn folks in my post that this is something to consider before having the procedures I had done.

Thank you! Our shutters are custom ordered through Home Depot. I believe they still do these. Mine are over 10 yrs. old. Good luck!
