Ruggable Runner Rug Review

Try sayin’ Ruggable Runner Rug Review 5 times fast. Trust me, it’s impossible, but who cares, right? These runners ROCK. Seriously, I absolutely LOVE my “Ruggable” runners and I have been wanting to share this information with you for a while. This is not a sponsored post. I was not hired by Ruggables to review their rugs. I just really think they are fantastic. Let me tell you why…

If you follow along here at redheadcandecorate.com, you know I cook a lot. This is my “station” every day, and sometimes I feel like I run a 24 hour cafe at night 😂. You see, I have a teen & a 20 year old that is home from college 4 out of 7 nights. They both have completely different tastes in food choices, and then my husband and I try to stick to a low fat, low carb diet. I also love to cook, so it doesn’t bother me to cook different things for everyone. In fact, I enjoy it, and will miss it one day.

With all of that being said, our kitchen floor gets a major work-out. From splashes to crumbs, to even the cats eating their little treats, these floors get dirty fast if I don’t have a rug there to help keep it all under control. Here’s the rugs I use to have in here:

They were from Target and I loved them, however, they were too big to wash in my washer and definitely couldn’t be dried in my drier. I actually went through 2 sets of these runners because they became so dirty looking. When Operation Home Purge came around I sold them all for $5 each.

Eventually, I came across Ruggables and decided to pay a little more than I normally would pay for a runner because I really needed something high quality that I could wash and dry. I was a little skeptical of Ruggables, but ordered anyway since returns are so simple on Amazon these days. When they arrived I was so excited to try them.

Ruggables come in many different designs and sizes. I chose the bright turquoise style they call “Ocean Blue” because I loved the stripes. See the stripes? I also love the pop of color in my rather dark kitchen. The light from our windows reflect off both the runners I have and it looks groovy. I bought one for in front of the big sink, and then another one for in front of the prep sink (that’s where I do my chopping & mixing).

What makes these runners different from regular ones, is that they come in 2 pieces. The top layer is very high quality polyester material that feels more like a mat than a rug. It’s very smooth. Kind of like my handsome husband 😉. This top layer peels off and can be washed and dried with no worries of shrinking. I was also worried it would wrinkle, but it didn’t!

The bottom layer is the no slip padding that adds a little cushion and makes sure the rug doesn’t move. This part can be washed by rinsing off only. The way I look at it is if it isn’t dirty, just leave it there while you wash and dry the top. The 2 attach with velcro in the corners.

When placing your Ruggable down onto the floor you will need a partner. First lay the pad down where you want it. Then hover your top part over the pad tightly and slowly lower the top down onto the pad being careful to get corners to match up. It takes a little practice, but my husband and I are pros now 😆.

Lastly, a point I want to make is that you can sweep these babies off with a regular broom (how simple is that?). I sweep them almost daily, and I only wash them every couple weeks when they need it. I hope you try one. Here’s the two I got, and then there are also more designs below that.

    Hi Julie:

Wow what a pop of colour for a dark kitchen. It’s so practical as well, being able to wash them.
I understand you got them on Amazon, unfortunately living in Canada the shipping and custom charges are way too much. I will look for them in another place. Thanks for the great idea.
Cute statement about your hubby being smooth too.
    Cheers,
    Bette

I’ve seen these advertised on FB and wondered if the reviews were actual reviews or manufactured by the company who makes them. Good to know that someone I know (even though I don’t actually know you) has used and recommended them. I have 2 dogs and my kitchen is their route to and from the outside, so you know I need washable rugs. Thanks for your timely post.

Hello Julie! I have been seeing and hearing about these rugs all over social media! What a genius idea, especially for the kitchen! Thank you for sharing your review and the “smoothing” tips. Have a great day!

I’m so glad to read this! I’ve investigated ruggables and thought about getting one for my living room when I replace the current one. I like the idea of changing out the covers for summer/winter decor.

Hello Julie, I’ve just come across your review of the Ruggable rugs. Now that you’ve owned them for a while, are you still happy with them? Do they need to be replaced or are they still looking good? Thanks! 😊
