So, you see all the makeovers all over blog land, and you’ve been inspired 100’s of times.
You’ve been so inspired that you’ve even visited the thrift store after work, or on the weekend to find that perfect chair or table that needs just a couple coats of paint so you can say…,
“LOOK! I DID A MAKEOVER!”
That’s fantastic. I love that you are inspired.
However, seeing all of these makeovers can be over whelming, too.
I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be…
I’m so excited to be part of this wonderful group of bloggers where we all venture out to the thrift store and find something to make over. It doesn’t get any better than, that.
So, this is what I found…
The tea kettle was first, and it was so beautiful. There was no way I could pass it up. It’s my second one this year, so maybe a silver tea kettle collection will develop.
For now…I just needed to figure out how to make this baby fit into our “Thrift Store Decor Challenge”.
I put my thrift store goggles on, and I searched further.
I began to think very clear and said to myself,
“What’s a tea pot with out tea cups?”
(yes this photo was taken on our drive way)
I’m not sure about you, but at our thrift stores we have a gazillion tea cups.
I ended up finding these 2 with matching saucers for .99 each. What a bargain. I love the orange.
Now I had to get them home, and figure out how to make them over.
Lucky for me, while at the grocery store, I came across these beautiful pink roses for $9.99. I never see pink roses, so this was meant to be.
I began to think how beautiful the roses would look resting in the tea set. How elegant, dainty, and GORGEOUS. It would all come together perfectly against my Black Stereo Console in our foyer.
Then there’s the Thrift Store Silver Platter Wall behind it…a match made in heaven.
So, remember next time you’re at the thrift store…just look for something cool to to put flowers in.
No paint required. Makeover complete.

From doing china mosaics I have more than my fair share of tea cups in a box in the garage, and I think I’ve even got the same tea pot waiting on an idea. Flowers make everything look great, guess I should go fetch it.
I love all your finds. The dainty tea cups are perfect for the roses, and who can resist a silver teapot!
So pretty Julie. I love the tea cups.
Beautiful Julie…. btw, can’t say for sure, but the taller shape makes me think this was actually a coffee pot. The height makes it a great vase!
Could be, Linda! Good eye!!
What a great idea for wedding table decor. I have a couple of catering jobs I can do this for.
Very elegant with so little effort. Great idea. Love seeing all the neat things you do. Really love that black console in your foyer.
This is so pretty and perfect just the way it is. Love!
Love your idea Jules!! I can smell those pink roses from here 🙂 Pinned!
They are absolutely beautiful, Julie! I am totally breaking out some of my china!
So pretty Julie! I love floral arrangements in tea sets!
What a lovely idea!!! Lots of floral impact with just a few flowers. Perfect! So happy you have joined our monthly group!
I love this idea! I totally need to do something like this!
Did you superglue the teacups to the saucers?I can’t find where you wrote how you kept them together. And the roses are fresh? How long did they last?I love the look!!! so dainty and elegant.
No I didn’t glue them. This was just temporary. Although, feel free! Yes, the roses are fresh.

Ok, now please don’t send me bad emails, but….I paint those silver things either black or white. They actually look really good and I like them!!

I collect silverplate/silver trays also … love your wall display idea. How do you mount them to the wall ?
Wow! This perfect for you then, Linda. I gave a tutorial here https://redheadcandecorate.com/2014/09/thrift-store-silver-platter-wall/, and my new e-book with 30 similar type makeovers is here https://redheadcandecorate.com/2018/10/30-thrift-store-makeovers-for-all-seasons-e-book/
Boy, you sure have different thrift stores where you live : ( I would NEVER find anything silver at ours.
Some of these are plastic. I see them in every thrift store I visit no matter what state.
