Why Paint a Thrift Store Frame with Eyeshadow?
Come on now, Julie….paint a frame with eye shadow,? YES 👩🦰. I promise this is not as crazy at it sounds… the only catch is that the part you’re transforming besides the art, is the fabric matting that you often find with vintage art paintings.
TIP: when you see a frame that you absolutely adore at the thrift store, turn it over to see what’s going on in the back. Many times you can remove the center easily, and go from there using it for your personal display ideas.
After I removed the painting from the frame with just a few simple adjustments in back, I found one of my favorite photos to replace the art with, and figured out what color I wanted the matt to be to really make my photo pop in a very cool way.
Before I show you the finished product, you can see below how well the powdered eyeshadow “paints” or brushes on the fabric matte frame, and adheres instantly, with no drying time. I should tell you real quick that using a damp cloth on the shadow after you get it on there really helps blend it, and lets you play with it (sorry no photo of me using the damp cloth to blend). Just have fun with it.

Thrift Store Frame Makeover Styled in Our Home
Yippee! Here’s the finished eyeshadow painted frame (matt) in our new home! I strategically 😉 placed this beauty here because everyone that walks into our home will see it as they walk from the foyer into our two story family room. As you can see, I used one of my all time photos of our two amazing kiddos from when they were little. We are empty nesters now, so this is PERFECTO! This mama misses her babies 😊

Check out in the photo above how the black and white photo blends so nicely with the smoky eye shadow matt frame against the vintage, gold, ornate frame. It looks so beautiful in person. Keep scrolling to cry, I mean see our kiddos today ❤️. I am so very proud of them, both.
