2024 Redheadcandecorate.com Christmas Tour in our New Home

Well, I gotta admit that having a new home to decorate for Christmas for the first time after we sold our old home, has been extremely exciting. I want you to know that I did not go out and purchase anything new except that little tree at our front door. We found it at HomeGoods, and I thought I needed two before I saw the price 😲. I decided on one, and filled the right side in with one of my older most popular winter projects…”The Wood Shutter Snowman Family“. ALSO…here’s an upclose photo of our front door that my husband painted black (see that post here)-oh my it is so beautiful.

Below is a photo blast from the past from our old porch with yet another glimpse of a beautiful wreath I received from LCF that year, and used it with the snowmen family then, too…

Rosie, Our New Christmas Kitty

Enough of the past, let’s go inside and say hello to our new rescue kitty who is only 1 year old…Rosie, girl. That’s what I call her, Rosie Girl. Rosie is the sweetest cat, and I think I needed her way more than she needed me. Rosie follows me everywhere I go (and loves these vintage green chairs I scored for $29 at a thrift store). We both have fallen in love with her fast. If you can…please consider rescuing a lonely kitty from PetSmart…that’s where Rosie rescued us 😊 and we can’t imagine life without her.

Christmas in our New Family Room

Even though the kiddos have moved into their own places not too far, I still decorate as if they are still here because I know they will be visiting. I enjoy keeping old decor and using it in different ways. After a few years it brings me joy to use these older items as it brings back such amazing memories. I truly feel there is no need to buy new decorations every year…just a few things and use what you already have in different ways. For example…my “Don’t get your Tinsel in a Tangle” sign has been used in the bathroom, and the kitchen. That Santa pillow? It’s been around the North Pole a few years now. Are you wondering where the tree is 🤩?

We decided to put the tree by our thrift store mirror for full effect! Wow…does it shine, or what? I used all ornaments/icicles I have, but I did get a new STAR that is controlled by a remote control and has so many neat settings. I also opted for thin ribbon bows for a change that I really like. My favorite part of this tree is how the ribbon and icicles make it look like things are dripping off the tree almost like melting. I hope you give icicles a try if you haven’t. I used mostly dollar store ones (shhh!).

Okay guys…one last photo of the pad below, and then I hope you enter the free wreath giveaway! Here’s our kitchen, but in all honesty…it is not where I want it to be yet, and I am still deciding on what to do. So far, we have changed the 3 pendant light fixtures, painted the island black, and added new glam stools. What we are thinking about doing is removing a few cabinets (putting in open shelves), and bringing the backsplash up to the ceiling. We may also go back to white on the island, so the gorgeous stools (found here) pop better because they are absolute stunners.

On a sweet Christmas note…I love collecting Santa everything, so if you zoom in you will see lots of my Santa Claus collection. You may also recognize the infamous gold painted cardboard CHRISTMAS letters. I had to give the letters a few patches, and a fresh coat of gold spray paint this year.

Hi Julie, your home is coming along quite lovely. I love the way that you decorated your Christmas tree with the long skinny thin ribbons and icicles. I also like to use the decorations that I already have find ways to update my tree. There’s nothing wrong with getting Christmas decorations from the Dollar store. Infact I’ve gotten many of my decorations from the Dollar store because they have many pretty decorations. I also go to Kohl’s or other stores like Home Goods after Christmas to buy decorations as reduced prices.
On a side note, thank you for rescuing Rosie and encouraging your readers to consider adopting a cat from the cat rescues and shelters. I volunteer at my local Petsmart in town at the cat rescue.
