Happy summer to you all ☀️! Welcome to my “Summer Tablescape and Update on our Big Move” which also includes a sneak peek of our freshly painted and decorated fireplace and mantel which turned out way better than I ever imagined!
Finally, officially out of the apartment, and have moved in to our new pad 🤩. I must be real and admit that we are utterly exhausted (that’s why I haven’t been on here), and a bit overwhelmed with the physical labor that comes with a move like this even with professional movers. However, the boxes (that I haven’t seen in 2 years) are slowly disappearing, and each room is developing it’s own unique, fresh personality. I invite you to sign up here if you aren’t already a subscriber to redheadcandecorate.com because with this new canvas I have before me, my creativity is on fire 🔥… sorry about the mess, but this is me pointing to the never ending boxes, and our new thrift store score…

Summer Sunset Tablescape
I have so much to share with you, but I could’t resist sharing the most beautiful feature of our new home first, since it is what completely drew me in with the gorgeous Michigan sunsets…our back yard. Our backyard backs up to “state land” and is used for multi recreational purposes. On top of the incredible wild life, and serene backdrop, the sun sets directly in the back of our house-this is a dream come true for me because sunsets are my absolute favorite. Each night, we are now blessed with a different sky, and it truly feels like a show in our big windows, or out here where I can’t stop anticipating the next episode. Who needs TV when you can look sat the sky….
Our son recently got a new job at a place that is very close to HomeGoods, and AtHome. We also live about 3 minutes from Home Depot 😆. I’m not sure this is good for the bank account, but it is good for my creative mind. While I was waiting for him to get off work, I found very colorful outdoor cups and bowls in the clearance section at HomeGoods (be sure to check their clearance!). I also found these gorgeous floral bone china plates. We use the plates every day for breakfast or lunch because they are the perfect size and so pretty.

I love the idea of bright colors in the summer sunset tablescape because the background is mostly green. Once the sun sets we see all sorts of pinks, and blues. So…I guess you could say my inspiration for our backyard right now is the sun 😊.

If you’ve been following along for a few years, you may remember when I found this beautiful mirror at a thrift store,, and then painted it gold. This baby has been around the block more than Jenny, and it still shines and literally is the focal point of our fireplace now. If you’re interested in learning how I painted the mirror you can find that tutorial here: “THRIFT STORE PAINTED MIRROR“. On the other hand, if you want to check out those neat modern battery operated gold lights on either side of the mirror, you can find those directly here (they come in 4 colors and can rotate 😲): MODERN WALL SCONCE.
I hope you enjoyed the “Summer Sunset Tablescape and Update on Big Move” please stay tuned for our kitchen, full family room, dining room, new “Zen Lounge”, master bedroom (hint: master bedroom is going moody) & bathroom, gym, coffee bar, thrift store colored glass “wall”, restored china cabinet, and even our laundry room! Yikes…now you know why I haven’t been around. I am preparing 🤩 yippee!

Already the house has your color touch! I too love the back patio and your choice of colors for sitting out there. Any suggestions how to avoid being eaten alive by the bugs though?
Great question, Nancy! I forgot to mention my husband bought us a mosquito thermocell! Here’s my Amazon affiliate to check it out: https://amzn.to/3KRASbL
Love the picture of the deer grazing. Would make a beautiful picture for a wall.
So lovely! The backyard, and the buffer of state owned land will ensure your privacy and a monopoly on those sunsets and views! So happy for you!
