Hello, there! How about a little retail therapy today? All kidding aside, I recently went to turn off the dimmer knob on one of our old lamps next to my spot on the sofa, and that baby was so HOT. To top it off, I noticed burn marks around the edges! 🚩 🚩 🚩 I took matters into my own hands and headed straight out the door to get “Our New Brass & Black Living Room Lamps” 😊. I hope you enjoy coming along on my trip to HomeGoods I took just last week, and I’m also sharing a few of my recent Amazon finds. Let’s go have some fun shopping…

I was so lucky to find almost exactly what I was envisioning for new lamps at HomeGoods. This is not a sponsored post, just me telling you that HomeGoods has some of the most beautiful lamps I’ve ever seen (prices are just “ok”). I’ve been leaning towards more and more gold/brass and black glam, so when I saw two of these black drum brass lamps (above/below photo) I knew they were perfect for our “moody” glam apartment living room. They also come in white if you’re interested.
By the way, it actually took me about an hour to find the right LIGHT BULBS for our new lamps 🙄, but boy did I find some perfect ones. The bulbs I ordered have a modern white glow, but they are also warm soft, and not too white. The bulbs come in a pack of four and are perfect for reading, entertaining with candles by them, or even watching TV. I’ve honestly never found a bulb that can be both bright, and warm at the same time without being too yellow. I completely recommend these LIGHT BULBS.
Here’s the new brass and black lamp with the light bulb off. I styled it with this very lifelike FAUX PLANT, a back scratcher for my husband 😊, and my beautiful mother-in-law in a gold frame as a little girl holding her pet cat. My husband has coffee here every night.
HomeGoods Sweepstakes and other Favorite Finds
Hey, did you know that HomeGoods is running a “sweepstakes” monthly where 1 person wins a $500 gift card for just answering a few questions about your HomeGoods experience on line? Can you imagine $500 to go shopping at HomeGoods? That sure would be a great for the holidays…
While I was at HomeGoods, I spotted these gorgeous ribbed black velvet chairs above. I love them with the crane canvas, and brass lamps they just happen to be sitting next to. I didn’t get any of it, but if I did get those chairs, I would put them in our master bedroom below. As you can see they wouldn’t fit here at the apartment 😆, but I assure you we are getting closer to finding our next home. Maybe even in time for fall! Speaking of fall…
Halloween is Brewing at HomeGoods, Here’s What I Brought Home…
It’s a little too early for me to be decorating for Fall, and Halloween is way off, too. However, it was fun to take a peek into their rather large Halloween section after searching for my brass & black living room lamps. Hey, did you happen to see our pizza themed Halloween Balcony last year? If not you can click here: Halloween Balcony 🎃
I just couldn’t leave HomeGoods without at least one little fall decor treat for myself…I mean this is supposed to be “retail therapy”, right 😉? I decided on this beautiful glass pumpkin that lights up so radiantly with just batteries. I paid $14.99 for it, and they had a million colors (even pink), and sizes. This traditional orange lady will sure fit in nicely with our HUGE Fall Living Room Mural debut which is really going to be something. I hope you are signed up to see it: SUBSCRIBE HERE.
My Recent Amazon Favorite Picks
Before I take a break from all this “decor healing” 😆, I decided to share a few Amazon personal finds that I think you’ll enjoy.
First up are some cute purses. I have quite a collection of “clutch purses” now…some from thrift stores (see one here) and the rest are mostly from Amazon. I grew up watching my mom use clutch purses in the 70’s and 80’s when she would dress up. I sure wish I had one of those to share with you because my mom had such beautiful taste. Below you’ll find three clutches that I can wear with jeans, or dress up.
Next up, my favorite nail polish that stays on longer than usual. I’m not sure what’s going on with me, but ever since I hit menopause my nails seem to be thicker, and growing fast. Maybe it’s also because I’m not doing as much physical labor like I did at the big house? Either way, I am enjoying it. It literally takes me just a few minutes to get my nails to look like this with a little filing, then 2 coats of this nail polish, and one coat of the fast drying top coat. I will leave both below for you…
Lastly, but certainly not least is this cute “coffee” wine cup my son gifted me out of the blue! Isn’t that just the sweetest??? It just feels so good to know when your children have grown up to be thoughtful people. Cheers to that!
SEARCHING FOR OUR NEW HOME UPDATE: Stay tuned! I promise a new home is on the horizon. We are looking very closely and almost put a bid on an older home to fix up, but decided it needed too much structural work. We don’t think a condo is what we want either because we want to be able to utilize our yard the way we desire (my husband is bow shooter and practices in our yard, and we want a small garden). I will tell you…a pool may be in my future. It’s always been a dream of mine since I was a little girl to have a pool. Stay tuned!
