Halloween comes at a great time this year to help cheer me and my family up. To us, Halloween is not so much about being “scary” (okay maybe it is 😆), but adding in a little clever humor never hurt anyone. When I found out our new apartment complex was having a balcony Halloween decorating contest 🤭, I jumped right on that spooky train caboose. I mean seriously…our new neighbors have no idea who moved in to apartment #308! I hope you get a laugh or two out of my latest ideas on “How to Decorate a Halloween Apartment Balcony & Door”…

Before we started…I want to thank my husband, Rick for helping me bring this Halloween Balcony to life. I get a little dizzy up there, so he was great with getting up high when we needed to. Don’t worry, we played it safe.
First up, is Sal. You may remember Sal from our Skeleton Bonfire Display a couple years ago? Well, poor Sal is still not himself after his break-up, and he drank way too much juice if you know what I mean. Don’t you worry though…we got Sal healthy again, and he is ready to show off on our balcony.

Sal’s not the only one ready to have some fun on the balcony…our witchy lady is wanting some good ole fashioned fun on the Halloween balcony too, and she suggested that we serve up some of my husband’s New York Style Pizza! We had no choice but to say, “Okay! One a pizza-pie a comin’ up a!

Pizza Party Theme for Halloween Apartment Balcony
Once my friend the witch brought up pizza, I couldn’t help but think that a pizza theme would really catch the eye of our fellow neighbors, especially when it comes to voting for their favorite Halloween decorated balcony. I mean no one can resist pizza, right? I also knew that the neon pizza sign I purchased for my husband last year would really light up the balcony at night.
Halloween Balcony Details
After the pizza sign was up with just a few nails and wire, I could tell the right side needed something to really catch everyone’s eye after they move on from the neon pizza sign. That’s when I decided to actually order a pizza 😆 so we could use a real pizza box up there. After I painted on the phrase “Slice it up!” on the back of the empty box with red nail polish (and red marker), I used wire to hang it on a nail.
How about that fog and fire lamp? I’ve had the fog machine for many years from the “Haunted Hall“, but the fire lamp is new. I was inspired by my dear friend Melissa who uses similar light bulbs to light up her fireplace. Clever, right? Well, I had the light bulbs from a couple years ago, so I borrowed her idea with the old lamp. Thank’s Mel! Here’s a few products if interested…
Tomorrow night during the in-person tour, we are going to have spooky music playing and the fog machine going. I’m also adding pieces of pizza I made out of cardboard to the hands of our scary guys. I sure hope our neighbors are in the spirit of it all. I may have to throw candy from the balcony 😆
Wait, there’s more! Before we get to the front door of our apartment do you want a slice of my husband Rick’s New York style pizza he makes in the home oven? If you said yes…here’s the recipe: HOMEMADE NEW YORK PIZZA RECIPE.
Our Halloween Apartment Door
I couldn’t just stop at the balcony. I just kept going and going, ha ha. I ended up using things I had in my stash, and I got lucky because we are one of the only doors that has an electrical outlet by it. Someone must have set me up 😆.
Happy Halloween everyone…I will let you know if we win the Halloween apartment balcony decorating contest next week!

Love it… you really know how to slice it up!!! My burning question..did u decorate your kids balcony‽
This cracks me up, Lorri! The answer is, No! Although they would totally be fine by it 😂 I did get them a “Hello Pumpkin” matt for their door, and hung a ghost crossing sign 👻. I hope that stops the burning 😆
So clever and creative, hope you are the winner!
