Are you ready to “Take a Beautiful Spring Tulip Tour” with me? Tulips make me happy, and I know we all need a big dose of happy right now. As hard as it is to be happy in such a sad time in history, it’s important to give yourself that space to help heal all that worries you. I hope my little Tulip parade brings you nothing but joy.
If you’ve been following redheadcandecorate.com for a few years you may remember the star of this show…my famous pink Tulip wreath. Man oh man is she a show stopper.
I opened our front door with the pink Tulips on it yesterday in my slippers, and cozy outfit, to shake out a few bathroom rugs. I was shocked at how overly dressed I was. It was 60 degrees out and it felt like pure heaven โ๏ธ. There I was in my winter “getup” preparing for the jolt of cold I usually receive when I shake my rugs, and what I got was a gentle blanket of warm air, singing birds, and even a splash of sun. Spring has certainly sprung up here in Michigan, and I hope it has on your front step, too.
I don’t have a ton of fresh Tulips in our yard because our deer love to eat the big beautiful heads (can you blame them?). I’m embarrassed to admit that it took me years to figure out how to plant/grow Tulips so they actually bloom. I was burying the bulbs way too low, but I finally figured it out in my 50’s ๐!
Have you noticed that Tulips are fairly inexpensive in the grocery store? I haven’t been to a grocery store in years because our daughter is immune compromised, but I do remember how affordable they were. Maybe you can tell us if they still are in my comment section. The gorgeous fresh purple Tulips you see below are nestled in a silver tea pot I found at a thrift store. Can you believe I found such a gorgeous tea pot? I think I paid $10 bucks for it. If you look closely you’ll notice the lid to it is attached to the top. You might also notice the little Lily of the Valley bird salt & pepper shakers on the window sill ๐.
You’re probably not going to believe this either, but may husband found the ceramic pitcher set (wash basin) below. No matter what I put in there it looks like it was made to be there. The curves in the pitcher actually mimic the curve of the tulips. Rick was so proud when he found the set and I was ECSTATIC.
Now, I know we all love fresh Tulips the best, but I have learned that artificial blooms can be absolutely beautiful. You’ll probably think I live at the thrift store, but below you’ll see how I used thrift store hobnail milk glass to hold faux purple Tulips for a pretty Easter tablescape. I even tucked some of the fake Tulips into my mom’s very old white cloth napkins. My parents received the napkins (and a tablecloth to match) as a wedding gift in the 50’s…

Oh, I better not forget to tell you how to make those gold chargers. Here’s a beautiful Easter table I designed that I know you will like: Golden Easter Table.

Next up in our Tulip trip, is probably the prettiest of all. I had a blast adding these fresh yellow tulips to a spice rack I bought at Target years ago. Not to make the yellow Tulips jealous, but I also like to grow onions in these test tubes. Check out that indoor veggie idea here: Grow Onion on Your Kitchen Counter.

I could talk about Tulips all day it seems, but we’re coming to the end of this Tulip time ๐ข. Before I go though, I want you to see this neat idea using red nail polish. I wear ruby red nail polish on my toes year round. In fact, I just broke my back doing them again last night. Anyhow…I thought a “Ruby Red Nail Polish Jar” would be stunning and I was right. It totally worked…can you guess which side of the jar is painted with nail polish?

I hope you guys enjoyed the Tulips today…I appreciate you being here!

Love your tulip display . I can hardly wait for spring here in Winnipeg Manitoba . We had an over abundance of snow this winter. Temps of +2 and + 3 predicted this coming week. Streets are already a mess with melting snow. Will search for some fresh tulips to brighten our home . Thanks once again
Inga
We love you in NY.
