Happy Fourth of July, from our porch to yours 🇺🇸 ! I am currently on a “stay-cation” with just the four of us (7 if you count the cats 😆), and I couldn’t resist sending out this pretty photo of our side porch. I took this photo today (the 3rd) while I was watering my flowers. Holy moly, it was a hot one in Michigan 🔥. How is the heat where you live???
I have dreams of screening in this cute side porch one day, but I honestly don’t think it will ever happen 😂. Just one of those many things you think about, but never actually do. It sure is one of the prettiest areas of our home, though. Our left over wood from the winter sure makes a pretty back drop. Especially when the chipmunk that lives in there comes out 🤭.
I ordered that pretty fern, and the geraniums from a local florist that delivered in the middle of a really hard time here in Michigan for only $20. I usually hang a lantern on this hook, but ohhhh boy…that fern looks like a million bucks on there. It gets just enough indirect light here, and I water it every 3 days in this heat (90’s). Can you see the new growth on the ends?
Well, I know this was short (and sweet), but I have to get back to my family! We are cooking popcorn to watch Hamilton tonight. I hope you are all doing well, and staying safe! ~ Julie

Hi Julie, I love your 4th of July porch and look forward to your decorating ideas. Do you know the name of the little white flower (heart shaped leaves) blooming in the crack of the step & on the side of your steps by the porch? I have some but never knew the name. Happy 4th!!! Margaret
I have always wondered that, Margaret! I think they are a vine. I use to clip them back but now I just let them go. So pretty!
Ferns are lovely and I hung them, 2 of them, on my front porch when we lived on Fern Road. I love nature but I didn’t love when the momma birds would build nests right smack dab in the middle of my hanging ferns. I couldn’t water them after that for fear of drowning a little creature. Oh well.
