We have this very tenacious, redheaded woodpecker that pecks on the side of our bedroom wall early in the morning. It is very loud and actually sounds like he’s pecking on metal ๐Ÿ˜–. I swear, one of these mornings he’s going to break in and fly right into our bedroom! Then again, I honestly can’t blame him. I mean if I was him, I would want in, too. He is a WOOD-pecker, after all.

5 Wood Plank Decorating Ideas

#1 So, here’s my most popular wood plank project and still my all-time favorite room in the house. I actually find staring at wood planks to be relaxing. Is that odd? Well, I think you need to try it sometime and see for yourself ๐Ÿ˜‰. My husband and I wrote a very detailed tutorial on how we created this incredible wood planked ceiling here:

#2 We loved the feel of our new cozy romantic bedroom so much that we decided to spread the love. We ended up doing our master bathroom wall. Let me tell you, the wall is much easier than the ceiling because you don’t have gravity working against you.

We have since remodeled our master bathroom and kept the wood wall in tact, and in fact was able to extend it all the way to the floor. If I had a “look” that I would call “mine”…this would be it. I absolutely love the combination of rustic, glam, and modern. Can you find all 3 in this photo below?

Here’s both the original wood plank wall tutorial and our master bathroom remodel that took place after, just in case you are interested in both.

#3 This was my husband’s idea! I was so impressed when Richard thought up this idea below where we added stained wood planks to the wall where his big mirror was going because the drywall there was too weak to hold his mirror. There use to be a glass block window there, so we needed something more than a molly could do. Adding wood solved the problem, and looked absolutely fantastic. Then I jumped on that wood wagon with Rick, and asked him to spread it into the shower area. He obliged ๐Ÿ˜‰. Here’s all the specific deets…

#4 Next up, is in the laundry room where I live, I mean do the laundry. We hung a Tongue & Groove Wood Siding Wall that is actually pine wood that is made to fit together. I really wish my laundry room looked spiffy like this all the time.

5. Lastly, the stained wood planks we attached to our front living room wall. This idea came to me when I saw something similar in a Pottery Barn Magazine. My husband thought it was a little risky and different, but I like risky and different…don’t you? Eventually, we carried the stained wood through to the shelves, and even hung rustic light fixtures on the planks. Here’s all 3 ideas for you to check out:

It is very difficult to choose! I believe the master bathroom may be my favorite. It is gorgeous! Itโ€™s warmth draws you in and feels relaxing but not making you feel sluggish. Likely the balance with the other elements keeps it energizing but in a calm way. You do beautiful work!

I love the bathroom makeover wall. Everything about it calls to me. From the fireplace in the wall to the cat on the windowsill. However, I don’t know how you get it to leave the plants alone. This wall is a great inspiration. I can see something like that in my master bathroom. Either behind the mirrors or just on the only empty wall in there. Yours is just beautiful.
