Okay, I admit it. I am NOT a peach eater 😯 . I actually tried one again today (from the table you’re about to see) hoping to love it, and I can positively say, I do not like to eat peaches. The sweet juicy-ness is okay, but the fur causes me to react in ways I don’t care to discuss. However, on the other peach tree…I think they are quite honestly the cutest, and prettiest fruit I’ve ever seen. That furry redish, orangish, yellowish ball of sunshine is a pleasure to hold. Lucky for me, peaches are still in season up North, so I’m spotting them at every roadside fruit stand I pass. I just couldn’t resist bringing a few home for my husband and son and during that ride, I got to thinking about adding them into my dollar store Fall tablescape. Welcome to an early Fall post all about my very simple dollar store “Peach & Purple Fall Table”…
Before I go any further, I invite you to pay special attention to my very talented blog friends (that I know you will want to follow) at the end of this post who are also sharing their cute dollar store ideas.
I haven’t decorated our indoor kitchen dining room table located in our kitchen in quite a few months, so this was a real treat for me. I couldn’t go full throttle with place settings because things have been unusually crazy around here. As you may know, I took on a large campaign with Lowe’s and have been on location documenting a large kitchen makeover 2 weekends in a row. You can read all about The UpSkill Project HERE.
On top of that, our oldest moved into her dorm as a freshman college student (don’t worry-I am doing okay), and our 11 month old kitten had to have emergency surgery because he swallowed 3 hairbands! If you have a pet, hide those things.
So, when my sweet friend Rachael, from This is Our Bliss (see her blog below) invited me to this dollar store round-up, I was so happy to have some creative time to relax. Decorating and creating relaxes me. Does it do that for you, too? Actually, going to the thrift store, or the dollar store relaxes me.
When I came across these gorgeous purple scarves kind of hiding in the middle isle, I grabbed two knowing I could use them for my table. I wasn’t sure how, but I knew it would happen. The color was just so beautiful and too hard to pass up.
After I added the two purple scarves to my shopping basket, I went over to the candle section. If you don’t like dollar store candles, by all means use whatever candles you enjoy the most. I came across these purple-pink-orange ombre frosted votives that said FALL to me. Up here in Michigan, our Fall foliage is vibrant. So, I need COLOR when I decorate for Fall. Some of the Maple trees and burning bushes get very purple. You may have also noticed the clear vases that I put the votives in. They are also from the dollar store and help add height, and keep the votives lit longer.
Oh, and I can’t forget those little faux acorns. I just noticed a few real acorns in our driveway, but not this large. I found these at the dollar store, too.
I explained above that the peaches were kind of a last minute addition. I thought they complimented both the purple scarf, and ombre candles. They also added the element of “life”. If you live where the peach season is over there are many more options such as using faux peaches, buying peaches at the grocery store (they should be available through Fall even if they are not from your area), using nectarines, and there is always the lovely apple. By the way, the apples up North are almost ready to press for cider! I overheard that at the apple orchard where I bought the peaches.
The only other ingredients in my pretty “Peach & Purple Fall Table” was the garland, pinecones, and grapes. The garland in the photo is from the craft store last year, but I have bought it at the dollar store, too. The pinecones are from our yard. The grapes…those are real and were the very last idea I had after I had everything on the table. It was funny because I set up the table the night before, and put the grapes back in the fridge until I could take photos the next morning. I was so upset when I realized my husband ate a million of the grapes in the middle of the night 😯 . Needless to say, I had to manipulate those grapes for these photos. It’s quite funny, NOW.
Here’s a quick tutorial of the display:
- Clean table, and spread 2 scarves as best you can knowing you will adjust them a million times.
- Add the candles being sure to even them out on the table. I used 5 on purpose so the middle one would go in the direct middle. This spread is for a 4 person table setting with no-one sitting on the ends. If you want people on the ends, just make it shorter.
- Add garland over the scarves manipulating a few leaves to stand up, especially by the candles.
- Add peaches, grapes, pinecones, and acorns.
- Play with the scarf tassels until you go a little berserk.
Here’s a photo of the dollar store purple scarf up close. FYI-there were more colors, but this was my fav.
A real fire in our fireplace would have been nice for the photos, but it was brutally hot. I opened the door only for this photo. I am so ready for Fall, how about you?
Here’s the remaining dollar store divas I told you about!

What a great idea, I’ve never decorated with peaches before but it looks so good with purple. You don’t have to like the taste to decorate with them!
Very true, Sarah! lol
I love your dollar store tablescape. I never think about using purple in my fall decorations. But it’s beautiful!
I’m going to get something purple to add to my table.
Thanks for the idea!!
I’m obsessed with purple lately!! Have fun!!
The colors are beautiful. The bench is beautiful, did you refinish it?
Hi Kathy! Thanks for asking. It’s been so long I foget to mention it. Here is a full tutorial on the memory bench. I still live it!! Especially since losing many who ate featured on it. https://redheadcandecorate.com/2012/09/doodled-bench/
Love these colors! Also where is that beautiful chandelier from.
It’s from Home Depot years ago.
You never stop awning me. This project is amazing
Thank you, so much, Ivory! Happy Fall to you!!
Love your peach and purple color combination! Also love peaches and have been eating them all summer. Don’t love the fuzzy peach skin. Have to peel them or I can’t eat them. Totally understand your aversion to the fuzz …..
My husband just had one and peeled it 🙂
Thank you! I,like you,do not like the feel of the fuzz of the peach. So nice to find someone else that shares my dislike. Barb
You do realize, don’t you, that peaches should be rinsed before eating? Just rubbing gently under running water rinses the fuzz off.
The peaches and purple are a lovely combination. I dislike conventional fall colors — orange, yellow, brown— so I never do fall decorations, but yours is one I could do.
Yes it is so important top wash all produce. My fun doesn’t wash off though?

[…] and yellow mums. What I am a fan of, is purple. Just to prove it, here’s last year’s “Peach & Purple Fall Table“. It’s almost as if this wreath is a perfect match for that table, […]
