12 of us have been sneaking around behind your back planning our new monthly series called “DIY Housewives”. Don’t let the word “housewives” fool you. This has nothing to do with the dramatic television show I live for, but we are pretty darn savvy in the DIY department and we will be sharing our very best DIY projects with you on the first Wednesday of every month.
This month’s theme is all about the kitchen. No better place to start if you ask me.
Presenting “12 DIY Kitchens” from the DIY Housewives…
Our “DIY Housewives” team consists of 12 talented bloggers from all over the country…

If you scroll to the bottom, you’ll find all 12 DIY Kitchens and you can click on your favorites to find out more.
I chose to share our “DIY Kitchen Makeover” because it’s still one of my best makeovers to date. It’s been 4 years, but I still enjoy inspiring folks from all over the world to paint their cabinets. In fact, this post has been viewed over 75,000 times. That is so cool! I also went through and updated a few things, so if you’ve already visited the Kitchen Makeover post, you may find a few more details in the mix.
You will also find “How to Get the Look” ideas at the end of both posts…

I love your kitchen, you guys have done such a wonderful job over the years transforming it! Thanks for having me be part of this fun group! XO
Your kitchen is absolutely gorgeous. The chandeliers bring so much elegance to the space. Bravo!
Thank you, Sue! I like that they are little different. I think we may take them with us when we leave. XO
I still remember when I first saw your painted kitchen at my Power of Paint Party – so gorgeous Julie!
Thank you, Maryann…I remember signing up. I was so excited!!
I love your kitchen makeover. It is just beautiful.
I would like to know where you purchased those crystal pendant lights and how long ago? Also you said you purchased your chandelier over your table from home depot? I am in the process of redoing a small kitchen and would love to find lighting like you put in your kitchen.
Thank you for any help or ideas you can give.
Deb.
Hi Deborah! The chandeliers were from Pottery Barn about 5 years ago. They were on clearance then, so I know they don’t carry them any longer. I wish I could be of more help!
Your kitchen is absolutely stunning! What an inspiration! You’ve transformed it from dingy to top of the line. Ladies like you keep me fired up.
It was dingy…that is a great way to describe it! Thanks, Debbie! XO
You are one of the very first blogs I started reading a few years ago and it was that kitchen that reeled me in. I absolutely love it!
🙂
Thank you, Nikki! I’m honored! 🙂
Can you please explain how you painted with the doors still on? Hinges? Insides? Thanks!
Hi Beth, I removed the knobs and put a drop cloth on the floor and painted. I didn’t do the inside of the cabinets, there is no need. I went as far as the inside ledge. Using a good Purdy brush helps getting into tight areas. If you open the door all the way you can easy reach all the sides. With the hinges I just lightly painted them.
