For a quick and easy Fall decor idea this year, I made this DIY Cozy Apple Basket.
It’s so easy…anyone can do it.
It’s also so darn cozy, it just makes me want to curl up and drink hard hot cider under my furry blanket.

But wait…if I did that, I wouldn’t be able to tell you how I put this simple basket together.
It was a slow, low stress process.
First, I started with the metal basket (find yours HERE).
Then, I found the prettiest REAL apples I could find.
In Michigan that is easy this time of year, and they are way more affordable than faux apples.
These are Golden Delicious I purchased at the grocery store.
Before I added them to the basket, I took off the stickers even though my 13 year old said they are edible.
Say what?
Then, I washed them and polished them.
I don’t always polish my apples, but when I do…
I set them on a bed of burlap (I tried a flannel first, but it looked odd).
Then came the fun part. What could I add that was real and not ordinary for decor, but with in the Autumn theme.
The scarf “bow” was a no brainer, although that’s my favorite scarf! (find yours HERE)
Then, the old leather belt idea buckled it’s way in. It’s one I’ve used before in my decor for a curtain tie back and to hang an American flag. An old leather belt is rustic, chic, classic, and unexpected.
All I had to do, was cut it and glue it with strong glue. I left clamps on the 2 areas I had to glue and it has held up great. It makes a perfect “Cozy Apple Basket” handle.
Lastly, I added small details like the Michigan Apples tag, and the cinnamon sticks.
I hope you make your own Cozy Apple Basket and give it your own twist. This could be displayed on a front porch, a kitchen island, a foyer table, the stairs, or a dining table. Even the bathroom would be cute. It would make a great gift, too.

Julie,
The finished project is great! My hubby insisted that we throw his old belt away but I knew that I’d see a use for it as soon as we did. Probably a lot of your followers are in the same boat.
Keep up the inspiring work!
