I’ve seen it a million times, and finally tried it today. This “Ball Parmesan Cheese Shaker” idea is all over Pinterest.
This is MY version.
It’s very simple. Just fill a Ball Jar with parmesan cheese, and switch the lids off of one of the store bought parmesan cheese shakers. No more crappy plastic holding your cheese for months.
This “Ball Jar Parmesan Cheese Shaker” also looks cuter on the table.
Easy Cheesy.

Awesome! Imagine the possibilities?! Thx for sharing! -Bev
I know. right!?
Ummm…adorable AND brilliant! LOVE!
I saw this idea somewhere else on the Internet. And a lightbulb went on. I use one of these lids on a canning jar and put baking soda in it and I keep it underneath my sink. I will be thinking of other things I am sure to use these lids for. Love your site!
Yeay! Great idea, Karen!
who knew?! I’m 71 years old and never knew this! What a handy hint!
Great idea, I used a bell jar with a clean parmesan cheese lid for my bath salts, easy way to mix up my ess oils and Epson salts for the bath, and looks cute.
Martha, love your ideal! I too use ess oils and Epson salts and I add baking soda to it to. What a cute to store it! Thank you Martha <3
where can I get the mason jar lids?
I’m not sure what you mean, Kathy?
Hi, love ❤️ your Blog. I look at it nearly everyday! I think this idea with the mason jar to store spices in is a great idea of yours. Would you please tell me where I can purchase the green screw on tops for the jars. I’m going to use your idea. Thank you for sharing.
Hi, Linda! Your comment made my afternoon. Thank you!! The green screw on caps come from the Kraft parmesan cheese containers that you can buy at the grocery store. That way you just pour the cheese into a ball jar and switch the lid to the one you just bought with the cheese. Hope this makes sense! ~ Julie
I like this very much, uniquely done!
Hi Julie,
I love, love this idea. I know what you mean about the ugly containers that the cheese comes in, This so cute for setting on the table. I think the cans though that I use, the lids are already sealed in to the can. I’ll have to take a look. Thanks for the wonderful idea.

Wow who would have thought…not me! Great idea Julie thanks.
Hi Julie,
Just had to share. I went home after reading this, found a Mason jar at home as well as the Parmesan Cheese in my refrig. Took the cap off, poured in the cheese, screwed the green cap back on the fit perfect, and hubbie thought it was the best idea.
Have a great day:-) Ann
Yeay!!! So happy to hear ???
