Stunning Black & Pink Bathroom Makeover

Facebooktwitterpinterestmail

Welcome to this month’s “Thrift Store Decor Team” episode: “Stunning Black & Pink Bathroom Makeover” where I am finally sharing our small full bathroom that is located on our main floor, and used quite often because it is the only bathroom on the first floor. I went for the gusto and went completely black which you may recall I have done before in this bathroom and I absolutely love it. Black paint does not scare me, how about you? Take a look, and tell me your thoughts at the end of this post where you will also find all of my favorite DIY decorating blogger’s sharing their affordable makeovers this month…

First the Before Photos of Our Small Bathroom Before We Moved In

The photo below was taken before we even bought the house (can you tell I look hopeful?). What I loved about it is that this bathroom is located right next to my husband’s office and it is all supposed to be a “guest suite”, but we don’t use it that way. My husband works from home three days a week, so this is his private lawyer oasis which will actually crack you up in a few minutes because the theme is Peonies 😆. The thing is, my favorite guy could care less what the theme is. I could literally have Peonies hanging from his bathroom ceiling on pink ribbons, and he just does not care. What he cares about is his comfort, and making me happy ha ha.

Finally, the Stunning Black and Pink Makeover Reveal

We’ve been working on this bathroom for about a year now (we have one more to go!). I have procrastinated terribly, and the only excuse I have is that I am getting old. Lack of Estrogen really took it’s toll on me the past couple years, but I am a fighter and I will keep on decorating as long as I live 😊. So, here we go guys, let’s see what you think of our latest transformation and keep in mind that my Peony theme has a sentimental meaning behind it, and once again it has to do with my precious mom who passed away in 2022.

I have always loved Peonies and remember swinging on my swingset in the back yard as a little girl as my mom would take a bath in the bathroom with the window open to keep an eye on me. She would talk to me through the screen and I remember huge Peony bushes under the bathroom window. So, now that you know why I love Peonies, I wanted you to know that I found the faux bouquet in the glass vase at HomeGoods recently. I knew it would compliment a large painting that I inherited, that my mom’s best friend painted for her back in the 80’s. I decided to display “Anette’s Peony” painting on the wall above the bath/shower insert for a huge dramatic effect (by the way we do not utilize the tub/shower so this works for us but not for a shower that is used). Isn’t it simply stunning??? My mom would call her “Netter”…they had such a fun relationship. Netter sure could paint…

Moving on to the tile…I am proud to say I did the back vinyl sticky tile on my own! My original plan was to go all the way up to our 9 foot ceiling, but I decided to save the rest of it for our laundry room backsplash and of course this was easier and it gave me the “glam” effect I was looking for against the brushed gold accents. Speaking of accents…I am leaving a full source list at the bottom of this post if you see anything you like, or just ask me in the comment section.

Center Mirror Placement for the Pink & Black Bathroom

I decided to take a huge risk and center the rectangular brushed brass mirror not over the sink, but over the sink, and toilet. When I would look in the old mirror it seemed to be scrunched up against the tiny sink space, and I just wanted to open it up. On top of that I chose a classic frosted sphere for the hanging light fixture that we had to hire an electrician for because the original light was over the sink. I wanted the light and mirror to pair up as team. I will be honest, it is not my most favorite light fixture, but it’s cute for now. I may opt for something really dramatic soon 😉.

A few side notes before I get to my source list…I also switched out the cabinet handles from chrome to brushed brass, my husband hung the new brushed brass towel racks, and he changed the faucet to a modern brushed brass to match the brushed brass theme. We even changed the toilet handle to brushed brass 😊. Can you find the brushed brass/acrylic toilet paper holder? How about the quick black painted piece of wood used for the bathtub tray?

I sure hope you enjoyed my “Stunning Black & Pink Peony Bathroom” makeover…if I have to take a shower down here for some reason I promise I will remove the beautiful Peony painting, first! 😉
