How to Make a Dollar Store Christmas Ice Wreath

Ice, ice, baby! This “Dollar Store Christmas Ice Wreath” turned out way prettier than I ever expected. In fact, I nearly gave up at first because it wasn’t turning out the way I envisioned, and then my husband said, “You’ll figure it out, you always do.” Those words inspired me to keep trying (Thank you, Rick! ❤️). After a few hours of spreading glitter all over our dining room table (I also have a solution for that below), I finally narrowed this rather simple wreath process down. If you’ve never made a wreath before, this wreath tutorial is a nice place to start!

The Dollar Store Ice Wreath Inspiration

Here’s how this all went down…we simply needed a new Christmas wreath for our apartment door this year because I repurposed our old Christmas wreath into this gorgeous Valentine’s Day Wreath. That was some cute repurposing, but what about when Christmas comes back around again 😆. Well…here we are Christmas 2023 and luckily the dollar store came through for me with flying colors, or should I say ICICLES. Inspiration struck right in the first isle when I saw all of their packages of clear icicles. I’ve always been fascinated by dangling ice on decorated Christmas trees, snowy winter homes, and even when trees get that ice coating on them from ice storms. There’s just something about the reflection of light that sparkles through, and makes me happy.

Here’s another finished photo of the ice wreath where I think you’ll be able to see all of the icicles I stuck in…that’s right I said “stuck in”. This wreath may look like it took many hours of gluing, and situating, but honestly it really was as simple as sticking things into the ground. I hope you will give it a try…

Dollar Store Ice Wreath Tutorial

DOLLAR STORE SUPPLIES:

-1 foam wreath form the size is totally up to you

-a couple head pins

-silver ribbon (enough to wrap around your wreath form-you can return unused if necessary)

-plastic icicles found in packages of 5

-icy/snowy twigs (enough to cover your wreath well-you can return unused if necessary)

-3 large silver clip on florals (I found these silver Poinsettia by the florals on an end cap)

NON DOLLAR STORE SUPPLIES

-(hopefully you have)wire cutters or scissors if not

• (optional) Mod Podge Ultra Spray to spray wreath so glitter doesn’t fall off (this really works!)

4. Stick the icicles in after the twigs and push them into the foam to secure. Again, I didn’t use any glue but you can if you desire. I noticed that the ribbon helped keep the icicles in the foam. I tried to make the icicles look “pointy” on purpose, but had to be careful so it is safe for a door.
