Two Story Family Room Accent Wall Makeover

I hope you still remember me? The redhead who LOVES to decorate 👩‍🦰 ? I am finally back with an update with our “big move”, and I am also sharing our very first makeover in our new home!! We haven’t moved in all the way as of yet, but our big move day is coming up on 5/28. You see…this entire month of May we have been packing, and preparing the house for that big day. Red’s Moving in Update…

The month of May has been jam packed getting our new house ready for us to move in, and while it has been very exciting, it is also exhausting. While we are busy packing, and helping our kiddos find their new places, we decided to hire out for painting, fresh carpet, house cleaning, and a few other updates including light fixtures, a new washer and dryer, and we are putting in a new kitchen sink & faucet, too.

I must say, one of the best things we have done so far for this move is hire out for a cleaner to clean the home. Unfortunately, the previous owners left the house absolutely filthy. As a matter of fact, on the day we did the key exchange the other realtor was waiting for us to sign his papers, and he mentioned that there was champagne in the refrigerator for us. I can’t lie and tell you all that it was a lovely gesture, because honestly it wasn’t. Not only was the refrigerator caked in food scum surrounding the bottle of champagne, but everything from the floor up to the light fixtures was filthy. The champagne felt more like a “good luck with the mess” wish rather than a congratulatory welcome. Thankfully, the cleaners we hired were absolutely amazing, so let’s move on to the good stuff 😊

“Before” the family room was painted in a very green toned beige that made the home feel very dated, and the beautiful real wood floors, showstopper staircase, & fireplace weren’t popping the way I knew they could with a more modern vibe …

What do you think of the change?

I was absolutely SHOCKED when I saw the difference the paint colors made not only to the floors, but it made the staircase curves look so much more elegant. Here’s another before photo just to prove my case…

I hate to write & run, Rick is almost done with work, so we are going to take another load of our stuff over to the house. Next week, I’m sharing our new foyer light fixture, and then I will probably disappear for a few weeks while we move in for real!
