The master bathroom can be, and should be a space where you can rejuvenate completely from head to toe. When I say head to toe, I am referring not only to the exterior of our body, but also our minds. When you wake into a stress filled morning full of responsibilities, or come home exhausted after a job well done, your bathroom is the place where you can find comfort, peace, and healing. When we moved into our new apartment, I tried to turn my bathroom into just that…a space where I absolutely crave to be. When decorating your bathroom, maybe my “Chic Private Bathroom with Dressing Room” will inspire some ideas to help you make the most of personal spaces.

Apartment Bathroom with Walk-in Closet Before

When we first moved into our temporary apartment one of the most exciting changes was that I was going to have my very own bathroom 🤭. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore my husband, but sharing a bathroom is not what I want to do at this stage of the game. Rick’s bathroom, and office are located in the “West wing” 😆 we call it, and he absolutely loves his own space. I must say though, I felt like a princess when I realized how large my bathroom and walk-in closet were. I mean two sinks, and I felt like I could go bowling in the long design. Oh, and that walk-in closet down at the end is the largest closet I have ever had in my 53 years. This closet could be a small nursery, and goes 7 more feet to the right, and 4 more feet to the left. With all this space, I just knew I had to make it very special. Speaking of special, did you see the closet outside our bedroom that I turned into an office? See the new gorgeous office HERE.

Tada! Welcome to my secret little healing space that sometimes I find hard to leave in the morning, and the evening…even my husband has to ask permission to come in 😆

Chic Black Sheer Curtains for the Dressing Room and Shower

So tell me, what’s the first thing that stands out to you? Please keep in mind that this is an apartment, so there were limitations as to what I could do. For example, I can’t paint the walls, but I can remove the door off the closet so it’s not in the way all the time (just unscrew and carefully store in storage room). Then we added a “curtain hanging system” above the closet door to give off more of a dressing room vibe. I decided to extend the black sheer curtains over the glass shower door because it just adds to the entire chic-ness. You can really get a closer look of the wire hanging system in the above photos.

I suppose the next thing that might make you zoom in, is the velvet, blue, button-tufted club chair nestled into the “dressing room” along side the thrift store gold mirror I scored several years ago. This chair from Target many years ago is my go-to chair to “think” in, and just take a break if you know what I mean. Let’s face it, life gets hard at times, and we need a private space to just pray, read, chill. I may add a reading lamp in there like this one soon. This little seating area is also a nice place to put on, and take off my shoes 😊.

Inexpensive Storage Idea for Your High Heels

Speaking of shoes…here’s a neat tip for high heels. I utilized the extra basic apartment high wire shelf space to hang my collection of high heels. Collecting sexy high heels has become a little bit of a new passion for me in my old age 🤩. Age is just a number, and I feel the older we get, the sexier we get.

I also added my mom’s best friends beautiful Peony painting to the shelf that I inherited many years ago. Isn’t the big bright pink Peony beautiful? I know the closet is not a traditional location to display art, but why not? Why store something so beautiful and meaningful in the storage room, and look at a bare wall every day? Thank you, Annette.

Utilizing the High Ceilings in the Bathroom

One of the easiest things I do to help make my apartment look larger is utilizing the wall space up to the ceilings. In the photo below you will see how I add height to the toilet nook by hanging my favorite frames almost up to the ceiling. I actually could add one more piece above my little green geode photo, but I just noticed it while writing this😊. By the way, I found those wood shelves at Joann’s 2 years ago on clearance, the big green perfume bottle is from the thrift store.

Hey, did you happen to spot the gorgeous comfort black toilet seat? This is by far the best investment I made in the bathroom. Obviously, the original toilet seat will go back when we vacate.

Finishing Touches for the Chic Bathroom with Dressing Room

On to the rugs! I absolutely recommend these very “flat” Persian rugs for the bathroom because I can layer fluffy ones on top (and my shower mat). These flat rugs stay put, and are easy to vacuum right where they are. The fluffy ones I use on top (not shown) I just shake out when they need it. I use 2 of these white and black rugs in the space because the toilet sticks out and makes it hard to put one long, wide runner in there.

Have you ever heard of a “Date Night Styling Rack”? Me either until I invented it 😆. I am not a fan of traditional towel racks where you have to fold the towel-that is so messy and annoying. I am more of a hook towel girl, and I have my towel hooks hanging over the door. With that being said, this freed up the apartment towel rack that I can’t remove. So…there you go, my new place to set up my date night outfit ideas. I purposely used nice wood hangers here just to feel extra fancy. The rack allows me to style my outfit right here through the week, and I can hang my jewelry, and match my clutches if I decide to use one.

The two last little things I wanted to make sure you knew about are the eye glass cleaner machine on my counter (it’s stainless steel if you can see it in the corner below) and the suction cup magnifying make-up mirror. I absolutely love both these life savers and here’s why…

AUTOMATIC EYEGLASS CLEANER MACHINE: This baby is not only soothing to listen to when it cleans my glasses for me in 4 minutes, it really works. I use this every morning to clean my soul, I mean glasses, and it doubles as a jewelry cleaner. I use the cleaner fluid recommended, and I also add a few drops of Palmolive. Hot water works best, and a clean wash cloth or cotton bandanna to dry.

SUCTION CUP MAGNIFYING MAKE-UP MIRROR: This is my other favorite beauty gadget in my bathroom especially to get rid of all the unwanted facial hairs 😲, put on eye make-up, and the nice thing is that it stays out of the way and I don’t have to touch it.
