Our son, Vic, just turned 17 😯 ! He’s our last born baby 🙁 , and he’s very smart, funny, and creative. I really wanted to give him something that he wouldn’t expect. Something he’s never seen before. Something that would freak him out and make his eyes go real big…you know what I’m sayin…yo. What up, I’m talkin’ like a teen. Chill. Put your money where your pizza box is, and it’s a done deal. Welcome to the very versatile “Money Pizza Pie Gift”…
Teens can be hard to buy for, can’t they? Money is always a good call because they can buy what they want instead, and no money will be wasted. In addition, money is easier on you, and if you do it with pizza pie style you gonna look so legit. There I go talking like a teen again.
Seriously, good bye gift cards. Good bye, greeting cards. “The Money Pizza Pie Gift” is taking over. Oh, and it would work for graduations, too.
Isn’t that “Money Pizza Pie” really cool looking? I cannot, and will not take credit for this idea. I saw it on Pinterest by accident, and when I searched it, there were millions of different versions. This is just such a cute idea, and I just couldn’t wait to share it. Especially this time of year when graduations are about to start.
I settled on a simple pepperoni pie made out of one dollar bills and I put it together my way. Can you imagine opening the pizza box and seeing all that money? I did worry a little about disappointing him because he may have really wanted pizza 😯 . That’s an easy fix, though. If you’re worried they will want pizza, just have that, too.
HOW TO MAKE MONEY PIZZA PIE GIFT
Time: 20 minutes
Supplies:
1 Large pizza box (Tip: Ask your favorite pizzeria and they will hopefully give you one for free. If not, ask to speak to a manager, and remind them how many pizzas you order every year.)
I used 50 one dollar bills and $5.00 in quarters ($55.00 total).
We added 3 lottery tickets for fun.
Lots of blue painters tape rolled into ready to use sticky rolls (regular tape will stick too much). Tape pieces should be about 1/2 inch long.
Black permanent marker for your message.
How to assemble:
Start with taping your dollar bills to the box like the photo above so you know how large the pizza will be, and it will also make a nice guide.
Continue with the photo below using the blue tape to stick all the dollars to the box and to the dollars below it. I used 1 piece of tape about 1/2 inch long per dollar.
Once you have your full pizza pie filled in, continue to use all of the leftover dollars leaving some for the crust. It’s up to you how many dollars you want to use, however I almost used all 50 to fill in all the bare spots. If you want to use less money, spread them out more, or use a smaller pizza box. If you want to add more money, use larger bills.
Here’s how the crust rolls looked before I stuck them on…
Add your quarters, lottery tickets, message, and close it up until party time. No need to wrap it up, it’s meant to look like you are actually delivering the lucky receiver a pizza. You could even hand the box to them at the party and say, “Yo…be careful it’s very hot!”
Have fun!

I want one. Papa in NY
Maybe for your 85th birthday!!!
OMG (haha) love, and will use this idea!
This is awesome! I think an adult would like that.
Great idea! Thanks
Julie, I love this! Our grandson’s birthday is next week and this is just what he “needs”! Thank you so much you clever gal!
VERY clever idea Julie! How was it received? It’s so unique and useful, and you KNOW it won’t be boring (unless the recipient wants $100 bills instead 🙂 Kudos Mamma!
He loved it.
I’m keeping this idea for my granddaughter! I’ll make it for her birthday or for Christmas. Her Dad has a pizzaria! Maybe I’ll make him one too!
I had fun making this and added a few things to make it “different” than yours so I could say I came up with it myself lol jk. I’m incredibly creative when I follow someone else’s directions and I appreciate you taking the time to share this idea!!
My son is 36 but when I ask what would you like for your birthday, he says I don’t need anything. I will order pizza and just carry in two pizzas. One real and one a gift. So cute. Thank you.
Great idea! I know about four occasions I think this will be great to give as a gift!!
Hey Julie:
Well, you did it again! So smart. Because I live in Canada and we don’t have any one dollar bills anymore, I would have to use $5’s. I think it would be little costly, maybe the small size pizza would do.
Cheers, Bette

[…] Redhead Can Decorate explains on her site how she made a money pizza for her son Vic’s 17th birthday. First, she got a free pizza box from her neighborhood pizzeria, then used $55 total on the slices of “pepperoni pizza,” which included dollars rolled loosely as crust, laid flat as slices, with quarters for pepperoni.
