Welcome back to this month’s All Things Creative edition! This months theme is all about being rusty. Ha ha…I mean rustic. Let me tell you, this topic of “Getting Rustic” is anything but rusty. Rustic home decor has been popular for years, and for me, never goes out of style. What’s nice is that you can add “rustic” touches to your decor no matter what style you prefer, or have.
Over the years I have found that the easiest way for me to add a rustic hint (okay maybe more than a hint) to our home without turning it into a hunting lodge, is by adding wood. Wood is my BFF and I don’t mean just wood furniture, or wood floors. We’ve added wood all over our home with several different techniques.
The most popular being our master bedroom “Wood Planked Ceiling”. By far this has been the most beautiful addition of wood to our home to date. As a matter of fact, when we move I’m taking the ceiling with me. 😉
Another larger scale project where we added rustic wood to our home is with our “DIY Sidelight Shutters“. Keep in mind, these only cost us $75.00 total.
Hey here’s one that was almost free!
If you’re looking for something a little more on the smaller side…I have that, too.
If you’re looking to add a rustic edge to your decor, but don’t have any time at all…how about just adding wood logs to a shelf, or nook? (You can buy these logs at most grocery stores!)
I still have plenty more ideas from my rustic crypt, and the beautiful All Things Creative Team is here to help me…
