This post is bitter sweet.
You see…my 81 year old parents Bob & Joanne recently had to move back to NY, where we all are originally from. It’s kind of a long story, but basically what it came down to is that we couldn’t find them senior living apartments close to our house here in Michigan. There were long waiting lists and we didn’t have time for that. Meanwhile, my sister found the perfect senior apartments right around the corner from her house in Buffalo.
It was extremely difficult to say good bye because they have been by our side here in Michigan and Florida for almost 20 years. They are only 5 hours away now, but with our busy schedules it makes it difficult to just hop in the car and go. On a happy note, I am going to visit them this Summer, and again over the holidays.
So, why am I explaining all of this? The outdoor furniture was theirs. I bought it as a gift for them for their deck here. I inherited it when we realized they didn’t have a patio or balcony where they were going. So, although I love having this cute set on our deck, I would much rather have my parents sitting in it on theirs.

The set I purchased for them was fairly inexpensive, and came with green cushions. The green clashed with some of our other outdoor furniture, so I am selling those in an upcoming garage sale on June 3 & 4. Want to come?
When it began to warm up, my girls and I ventured out to find cushions and pillows that would fit into our color schemes better.

The blue (almost periwinkle) cushions, octopus pillow, and striped lumbar pillows I found at Garden Ridge, which is actually now called “at Home”. The rug I found on line, but can’t remember where because it was a while ago.
I pulled together this “Get the look on line” list for you if you are interested…

While shooting, I had a little visitor. Time to get some wasp spray.
I can’t wat to sit out here later today!

It looks great! Love the blue.
Thank you, Ella! 🙂
Absolutely Beautiful. Just look at them gorgeous cushions with that beautiful blue sky and along with that pop of yellow………Stunning.
Looks like a great place to sit and relax and just enjoy nature
The sky was so blue that day! Wish it would stay. Have a great weekend, Colleen!
It looks beautiful. Very striking. Enjoy!
Thank you, Martha!
How lovely to be able to park yourself in a forest or so it seems. I’m hopeful of being able to buy a house this summer and move from my small apartment. I’m yearning for one with lots of trees in the yard.
Hi Jan! It’s funny you say this because we have too many trees, lol. I know that sounds crazy, but they damaged our deck & house pretty badly. They sure are pretty, but a lot of work. Especially Oak trees. Thank you so much for your nice comments! Have a great weekend. ~ Julie
So pretty. Love the blue.
Thank you for stopping by, Liz!
BEAUTIFUL for SURE!
Thank you, Shirley! Happy weekend my friend!

Wow! Thanks, Catherine! 🙂
Julie, your deck is gorgeous. Love the blues and grays. The preserve behind your house makes everything picture perfect! I might just come over and sit awhile! Have a great weekend!
I would love to come to your garage sale! When and where?
I live in Michigan Karin. Do you live in MI? 🙂
Where did you get your patio furniture? This set would look perfect on my deck. Your setting is beautiful.
Thank you
Beth
Oh Beth, I wish I could tell you. I found it on line last year, and tried to find it again and I can’t find it. It’s almost like it’s non existent. Try Walmart though!
Thank you.
I just replaced my old red cushions with the same blue ones that you have… so far I love them! Your new patio furniture looks awesome!
No way, Tammy! How funny that we chose the same color. I’m a little worry that they made fade. Hoping not. Have a great night!
Love this! The blue is gorgeous.
That’s it Robin! Great search skills!!
So excited to say that we now have an At Home store here in our area (Central Florida – Disney & Universal area). My son and d-i-l have talked about these stores for awhile now and I’m dying to get there. Just LOVE the blue scheme Julie. Gorgeous.
Sorry that you had to say bye-bye to your parents, that’s a difficult adjustment for all concerned, but at least your sister is there for them now.
Totally true, Julie! Thank you for your kind words 🙂 You better get over to that store girl. You won’t ever want to leave. lol
Yes Julie, I live in Michigan. I travel between Grand Rapids and Pentwater. I work in GR and own a cottage near Lake MI. I love to decorate and turn junk into treasure. I also work a lot with driftwood. I love flea markets and garage sales. So if you’d like to share your location I would also love to meet you. Thanks, Karin
It’s beautiful, Julie. The perfect place for a cup of coffee and a book in the morning! Love, love that blue. Great job.
Thank you so much, Doris! Happy Memorial Day {soon!} ~ Julie
And while you’re sitting on that new patio furniture, call ma/dad for a chat so it’s almost like they’re there with you!
