As Mother’s we spend a lot of time tending to everyone’s needs before our own. No complaints, it’s just what we do, and love to do. However, over the years, I’ve slowly gotten to where I don’t feel strange doing nice things for myself. Especially, on Mother’s Day.
My sweet husband & girls used to make me breakfast in bed. Sounds perfect, I know. Well…last year I finally had the courage to beg ask them if it was okay if we went out, instead. They gracefully accepted, and I could see the relief in my husbands eyes. It was hard for him coordinating all of that with young girls. Don’t get me wrong, he is a fabulous cook, and he never complains. However, he gets a little frazzled when there are 4 things cooking at once. It’s just the way some guys are wired.
Then there was me…in my bed…listening to the commotion. Wishing I could just come out, make my tea, and grab a bagel. lol
I love my husband and children so deeply. I’m so thankful for their love. Happy Mother’s Day.
Now on to my “Repurposed Spice Rack”…
When you’re thinking about buying flowers for Mom this year, think about putting them in something fun.
I bought this “test tube spice rack” from Target about 5 years ago. I had used most of the spices in it and had been refilling it and storing it to the side of my cook top.
I finally decided, enough of this filling station. Why do I need this thing? All my spices are in that narrow cupboard. So, before I threw it out, I asked myself what other uses it may have. It was a no brainer. I actually pictured an assortment of different wild flowers in it, but the Tulips grabbed my attention at the grocery store. The test tubes worked great because Tulips tend to droop. Not these babies.
Where ever I put them they were so easy to photograph. Even the goose next door is looking.
While I was writing this I realized how many other “repurposed flower vases & pots” I have posted about.
I think I’m obsessed.
I hope these will inspire you to look around the house and find something fun to put your flowers in.
NO CLEAR VASES ALLOWED.
The Peonies don’t have a post…just grab a jar.
Oh, and one more way to repurpose a spice rack….
try making a “K Cup Holder“.
