When I was little we lived in a house that fancied glass door knobs on the doors. I remember pretending that they were diamonds. Big, sparkly, shiny diamonds…on our doors.
Now, at the age of 45 I’m lucky enough to have those big, sparkly, shiny diamonds on (some of) OUR doors.
Aren’t they pretty? Especially up against the dark door.

If you’re wondering what color paint we used on our doors and moldings, we used Behr Ultra in Expresso Bean/eggshell sheen. I love the contrast it creates up against the nickel door knobs. Pure elegance.

Gorgeous. These look amazing.
Thanks, Marty!
They look beautiful! We had them growing up too and when we renovated our previous home back in 2000 we scoured and found vintage sets that we added in. Now that we are in transition to our next “home / project” I miss them. This is a great resource. Pinned!
Thanks, Claire!
I have the same ones but they have a bronze back plate. I love them! They add just that little bit of shine, like the perfect piece of jewellery that completes your outfit. Your silver ones look great on the dark brown doors.
My grandparents also had glass door knobs and I would pretend they were diamonds too. My dad gave me a few of those door knobs from their house and I’m trying to decide what I want to do with them. So many ideas.
How timely…Nicole Curtis of HGTVs Rehab Addict was just talking about glass doorknobs. She said she got her used ones for $10 at a place near her current Detroit rehab. She needed quite a few! I had glass knobs growing up, and I hope to have some again, should I find an appropriate home in the future.
I saw that, Fonda! I live near Detroit, too. 😉
Exquisite taste! Love the old fashion charm of the glass knobs! Beautiful contrast! Thanks for all the info on everything! Look forward to your next project! Cindy
Thank you, Cindy!
