Hi there! How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was unusually restful. We didn’t host family this year, so we got to just prepare a few side dishes, show up and eat. Which means no cleaning the house! Woot! We did a little Black Friday shopping (40% off all Target clothing? Don’t mind if I do!), watched lots of sappy Christmas movies, and I went crazy baking gingerbread goodies. Nothing says “Christmas” like the armoa of gingerbread baking in your oven.
We’ve been a little “gingerbread-crazed” over at Tastes of Lizzy T. We shared Glorified Gingerbread Cake and Gingerbread Loaf. Plus, we have a new gingerbread recipe that we’ll be sharing with you later this week. Trust me. You are not going to want to miss it!
One of our favorite traditions at Christmastime is making gingerbread houses with friends. The recipe I’m sharing with you today is the recipe we use for our gingerbread houses and gingerbread men. If you’re looking for a super fun activity to do with your kids, whip up a few batches of this gingerbread, bake it up and the the kids decorate their hearts away. There are tons of great sites out there with free gingerbread house templates of all kinds of different designs.
If the mess of gingerbread houses isn’t for you, you can always dip your gingerbread cut-outs in chocolate for a delightful little treat. Have you ever had chocolate on gingerbread? If not, you definitely are going to need to try it. It’s one of the best combinations ever!
Enjoy this gingerbread recipe. It’s a long-time, family favorite that never fails us. The next time I share with you all, Christmas will be over and we’ll all be thinking of ways to get those extra holiday pounds off, so enjoy your Christmas month and eat lots of goodies for me!
