Is anyone else out there so super excited that it is November?! Even though the next two months will bring so much busyness to our schedule, it’s the hustle and bustle of the season that I love. Please remind me of that when I am completely overwhelmed and stressed out about all that needs done.
I don’t know about you, but pumpkin baking in my oven makes the “to-do” list so much more bearable.
Even with all of the pumpkin puddings, cookies, muffins and rolls , a classic for our family is always pumpkin pie. A few weeks ago I shared my pie crust recipe that I’ve used for years. Do you need a pie crust recipe? Definitely check this one out. It is so flaky and will melt in your mouth. And it’s my grandma’s recipe, so you know it’s good.
Last fall, I put a twist on traditional pumpkin pie and created what my husband calls “The Best Dessert Ever”. Those are some weighty words, but I’d have to agree with him.
This Pumpkin Crumb Pie has a traditional pumpkin pie base and a cake mix topping, making a two-layer pumpkin dream dessert. Pumpkin pie never disappoints, but when you top it with a buttery, nutty, cake mix layer it adds a whole new level to the sweetness and flavor to the pie. And if you put a scoop of ice cream on top? Mmm…..makes me smile just thinking about it. 🙂
The next time I share with you, Thanksgiving will be over. Have a great November and Happy Thanksgiving!!
Head on over to get the recipe for this Pumpkin Crumb Pie.
