Hello friends! It’s Carrie from Lovely Etc. back to share one of my favorite projects ever with all of you.
When we moved into our 1973 ranch, many, many things were sorely in need of an upgrade. The lighting, in particular, was rather dated. From fake stained glass to rickety ceiling fans to shiny brass fixtures, we have a whole range of ugly. We’ve only managed to upgrade about half of the lights in the house so far, but the little lantern in the entry has been by far my favorite lighting project!
The light that was there was in the entry before wasn’t horrible, but it definitely wasn’t what we were hoping for.
I had been eyeing the fabulous orb chandeliers that were popping up all over the place for several hundred dollars, when I came across a little metal orb while shopping one day. It wasn’t a light fixture – it was meant to sit on a shelf and look pretty. But for less than twenty bucks, I snapped it up. (And I continue to see these decorative orbs for sale all over the place, so you can definitely do the same!)
It was actually an extremely simple project to turn my little orb into a light fixture. All it took was a screw driver and some oil rubbed bronze spray paint. And in the end, for less than twenty bucks I was able to make a whole new modern light in less than an hour!
Now that is definitely a project worth doing! You can find all the details of the transformation at Lovely Etc. Thanks for letting me share!
