Decorating with Blue | by Decor Adventures

Hello Redhead readers. Happy summer to you. It’s Jessica here from Decor Adventures. Thanks for the positive comments on last month’s post on easy window treatment sewing projects.

With the warm weather here, it has me wishing for new colors in my home. One of them I’m loving these days is blue. I have lots of it all over and it’s such a popular color, you might even try something blue this season. Here are some of my favorite blue projects for you.

Recently I scored a gallon of paint for only $8 that I got to tint myself. So I picked Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore and ran home to pick a wall to use it on. I not only selected one but two, our fireplace in the foyer and a wall in our bedroom.

The master bedroom is currently getting a makeover. I have lots of ideas to make it a calming retreat and started with new curtains and an accent wall. This is the wall before and now. The rest of the walls are Flint Smoke by Behr.

There are hundreds if not thousands of shades of blue, but it can definitely be used as a neutral. I’ve newly discovered it as one and since this particular navy is so dramatic, it works like a deep grey or black, which I have all over our house in other places.

I’ve shown you before my navy ottoman. It’s one of my favorite furniture makeovers. I’ve never seen navy velvet fabric like it since, but I’m going to a new fabric outlet today, maybe I’ll find more! This bold blue is the perfect shot of color in our living room.

When I look at the color wheel, blue is what I’m drawn to. It’s no surprise I use it all over. This blue dresser was the first I painted in a dark color. Previously I’d only painted furniture white. This color is Restless Sea by Behr.

This was a dresser whose drawers didn’t work well anymore, so I made it into shelves. This was a piece I made over to sell; it was purchased a few months ago. It’s also Restless Sea by Behr.

I couldn’t help myself from spray painting this little pet horse in Night Tide by Rust-Oleum. He’s in the dining room on the bookshelves. You can catch a glimpse of the ottoman and pillows, in what color? Blue.

The foyer has a blue side table.

I guess I just love blue. Deep, dramatic blue. Have I gone too far with using the left over paint? Should I try and bring some yellow into my life? Sometimes I wonder if we have too many blue accents, so I’m trying to add variety to my color choices.

Do you like to decorate with blue?  What is your favorite color this season?

See you next month!
