Hello! If it’s been cold and snowy where you are then perhaps you are itching to do some indoor projects at your place? And what a perfect time of year to bring something new to your home right? That’s what I think. In fact, I love doing furniture makeovers and all kinds of DIY and crafts in my basement, where all things Decor Adventures happen. OK, I’m lying on that one, I get lots of projects done on the dining room table too 🙂
One item that I love to use for projects is picture frames. They are one of the cheapest items you can find at a the thrift shop and you can do tons of things with them. Today I thought I’d show you some of the projects I’ve done with frames. Here goes!
Create a Gallery Wall
This is an easy one. Print out some of those long forgotten photographs and get your happy memories up on the walls. I created this one in our dining room, just the other week. It’s a small enough collection, but big enough to make a statement. All of these frames only cost me about $3 each. See how to create a gallery wall here.
Make a Chalkboard Calendar
This is a great project to do if you find an old piece of art on a smooth surface without glass. Chalkboard paint comes in all kinds of colors these days. I just saw pink or white at the craft store this week. You can paint on lines, or use thin tape to make the weeks, then get planning a fun event so you can write it on the calendar. See how I make this one here.
Organize Your Jewels
One of my favorite projects to date, this one hangs in our bedroom by the windows. This is the perfect makeover for an empty frame without any contents at all. You just need a backing, chicken wire and hooks to create a pretty display for your jewelery. See how to make this here.
I’ve done tons of makeover with frames, both ones I’ve found with glass and without. Don’t forget, it doesn’t need to be in perfect shape to do something pretty with it. Here are some ideas for working and decorating with picture frames.

Visit me at Decor Adventures and on Facebook. I am off to the thrift store to get more frames. Clearly I need to pick up some to feed my frame project addiction!
