Welcome to our “Bedroom Makeover for Teen Part 1”.
This will be a 3 part series.
Valerie is our youngest.
She’s 11, but almost 12.
She’s funny, smart, curious, beautiful, and loves life.
She’s very tight with her big sis, but is beginning to spread her wings a bit.
She actually has her own bedroom, but it’s located through her sister’s bedroom, and next to the attic.
It’s really cute, but a little S P O O K Y.
She never really felt safe in there, so she has slept in her sister’s room since we moved in 5 years ago.
It was fine, but I had an idea.
We have a “guest room” upstairs that is closer to the stairs.
It’s hardly used, so why not make it Val’s?
I know…it’s not very pretty, but it is a cozy room with an awesome cathedral ceiling.
It also has a cool beam going through the center.
The problem is, it also has a huge, dated, white ceiling fan that doesn’t even work.
Valerie & I discussed different ideas/themes for her room.
I prefer rustic decor that is timeless, and she prefers anything with animals and/or nature.
Val also loves learning about other countries, and history, so we are going to have a splash of that too.
The main goal is that it will grow with her into high school and after.
So, the first step was taking down that ugly fan.
Luckily, my hubby can do things like that.
He ‘s also great at putting light fixtures back up. 🙂
I found this beauty on line at Home Depot.
It was $149 with free shipping.
It full name: Hampton Bay Charleston Chandelier.
It comes with beautiful black shades, but we opted not to use them for a more rustic feel.
It reminded me of those beautiful “Orb Chandeliers” you see everywhere lately.
You know, those big circle ones with the chandelier lights inside of it.
Only this is affordable.
Stay tuned for “Bedroom Makeover for Teen Part 2” coming in February.
Have a great weekend…
