Is it too early for Christmas decor? Depends on who you are and what makes you happy. I was inspired, and whenever I am inspired by someone else I always disclose who it was. It wouldn’t be fair otherwise. Pottery Barn did it again. Love their Christmas decorating. I saw these lanterns with the bulbs inside and fell in love.
Now if you don’t have lanterns you have several options.I purchased mine a couple years ago at Marshall’s. The little one was $9.99 and the big one was $19.99. I know Hobby Lobby has lots of inexpensive ones too. If you want to use what you have, consider a vase, a bowl, or even a basket. Here’s my version… and quite honestly I like it better than PB. |

As you can see, adding some lights really make these guys pop, and set the mood.
Do I here Bing singing????Here’s what I did…
I cleared everything off of my foyer table and started with a blank slate.
The lanterns I had which I mentioned above.
The lights are a string of white Christmas lights I also had.
I bunched the lights up gently on the lantern floor.
I used one set total, and hid the cord in the back.
I chose red and white Christmas bulbs/ornaments
from my Christmas decorations.
I stuck a few (unwrapped) leftover candy canes from last year in there too.

After I had those finished, I wanted something natural to add in.
We have lots of Pine trees in our neighborhood, and a couple in our yard, so Rick went out in the DARK last night and found the Pine cones and branches.
I added them to our favorite bowl my Brother, Bobby, gave to us for our wedding,
and then Daphne suggested the tea lights.
She’s good.

Those skis are really starting to fit in now!
Love,

Gorgeous!! You are simply amazing!! Love this inspiration! Pinned
Love it. Simple and beautiful. When’s the Christmas open house?
Any info on where to purchase that rug in the entryway? You are very talented!
Hi Susan…the rug is an out door rug from Home Depot 🙂
Okay, so this is probably a silly question, but are the lights battery operated? And if not, how did you get the cord out of the lantern without it looking funky and hide the wires to plug it in? 🙂
Good question Mel! No, they are not battery operated. The cord fit under the door on mine. Where there’s a will…there’s a way 🙂
This display is beautiful and “it looks” like it would be simple to make but probably mine would look like hodgepodge..I’m not very creative but this looks simple and yet so elegant. Thanks for sharing your idea. Merry Christmas!
I LOVE this display! Question…how tall are each of these lanterns?
Did you buy the black piece of furniture that those nice lanterns are on? I love the whole look!
Yes! Art Van furniture.
Beautiful! Love your mirror on wall too! Where did you find it?
Ballard Design, Thanks Michelle!
This is beautiful! I have already started decorating for the holidays – and I am definitely gonna try this!!!
I love, love your lighted lanterns! You did a great job arranging this vignette!

The Redhead can Really Decorate! Your lanterns look so sparkly along with the beautiful glass bowl. Nice touch. Kudos to Daphne, the tea lights are an added sparkl to the bowl.
Hello looks lovely. I have the same lantern and will do this.
Question: do the lights not get too hot? Worry about a fire or melting the decorations.
Mine were fine, but never leave them on when you are not home.
I just found this site and I must say I’m liking it.
Love the whole look!!! My question is, where did you get your console table?
Years ago at Art Van Furniture.
I love this idea! And so easy!! Thanks for sharing, you’re the best! Love your blog!!
Hi Sue! I hope you can try it!! ~ Julie
