How to Create a Fresh Pine Christmas Centerpiece that uses branches from your yard.

If you follow me closely, you may recall last year I created this large bountiful fresh Pine and Birch centerpiece at the very end of the Christmas season. I had happened to be inspired by my dear friend Paula, from Virginia Sweet Pea at the very last moment and decided to give it a try. I ended up following Paula’s tutorial, and then just posting photos to my centerpiece. Guys, I was absolutely shocked when I saw how pretty it turned out. I even think my family was impressed a little, too πŸ˜†.

Here’s a few photos of the centerpiece at different angles before I get to my quick and easy tutorial…

  1. Choose your centerpiece container and then either take it outside with you, or bring something along that is roughly the same size, so when you cut things you can get an idea of how much you need.
  2. For this particular Pine & Birch Centerpiece I cut 2 different types of Pine branches (that’s what we have in our yard), and then I gathered Birch Tree limbs, Birch Tree bark curls (more info. on those here), colorful red branches, and some pretty Ivy Vines that happened to still be alive in the cold.
  3. To help situate the branches in my container (which happens to be a ceramic tub my husband got me years ago from Pottery Barn) I used green foam. I cut it up so it filled the bottom completely.
  4. Once I had the Pine/Birch Branches and Ivy just the way I wanted them, I added water to the foam to help keep the needles fresh.

Finishing Touches for Your Pine Centerpiece

Ahhh…finally time for the fun part. After the greens were all set for decorating, I added fairy lights, Birch Tree bark curls, 3 ornaments, and the red twigs.
