Happy Labor Day weekend!
Who’s up for a fire tonight?
If I could, I would have a “fire” every night.
Indoor, outdoor, whatever.
They make me feel all warm and cozy inside, and put me in a fun mood.
Now, if you look below…you can see the fire I made for you.
It took tons of logs, newspaper, matches, wafting, and hours of labor…
If you believe that, you were just fooled by Red.
I had all intentions of building a real fire in our fire pit for you, but it was so hot & humid.
No one will know it’s fake.
Not even these “DIY Painted Roasting Marshmallow Sticks”.
I got so excited about that fake fire I almost forgot about the stars of the show today.
This “DIY Painted Roasting Marshmallow Sticks” idea came to me about a year ago, and I wrote it down.
I searched Pinterest because I thought for sure someone must have tried this, somewhere.
So far, I haven’t found anyone, but me!
They turned out so incredibly cute.
They are meant for use over and over at your bonfires, or camping trips.
Marshmallows, s’mores, hotdogs, whatever.
You could also bunch them together and tie a pretty ribbon on them for a gift.
The best part is that they are just sticks from our yard, and spray paint.
Very simple idea.
So, this is how I did it.
This may look like I was putting the sticks down for a nap.
Not the case at all.
I used the towel to cover the stick so I could make the stripes.
Blue tape got to be tedious labor, so the towel trick worked perfect.
The tin foil covered the top area that I wanted clear of any paint for the marshmallows to roast on.
No one wants paint in their roasted marshmallows.
Now, I’m not going to tell you this was fast and easy.
It took some time and patience for all of the drying and flipping of the sticks to cover every angle.
I will tell you, at the end I touched them up with no tape, no towel, and surprisingly, the spray paint did spray pretty straight.
They are so colorful, and fun.

I love it Julie, my boys would totally dig this!!! They want to have a fire this weekend but it has been so darn hot.

any problem with the paint being flammable?
No, just don’t go down where the fire reaches. I just used these 2 weeks ago and they were a hit.
What about them going up in flames when the wood is dried out?
Hmmm…never had an issue. If it happens guess you can make more!
What about every now and then soaking the tips of the sticks in water like you do when you make shish kebabs on wooden skewers. Recipes call for soaking the skewers in water for about 30 minutes.
