I should also mention that there is a pumpkin vine growing at warp speeds in front of our house…

How to Use Non-traditional Colors for a Unique Fall Porch Tour

Happy Fall, from Michigan! Hi there, friends…it’s me, Julie. I am still here at our new house decorating up a storm. While it may be true that I have stepped away from posting frequently, the decorating never stops, and my blog will always be here to share it all at least once a month. In fact, I am currently working on several projects, including a bathroom, and a guest room, but I wanted to touch base and share our early fall porch using non-traditional colors such as pink and burgundy. Don’t get me wrong, I love all the traditional fall hues as well, but it’s so fun to try something new, isn’t it? Let’s dive in to autumn together, and see what I came up with…

Well, here she is…our fall front door, dressed in pink and burgundy. Do the pink flowers in the pots look real? I sure think so! I just love the dramatic contrast between pink and black, it shouts, “Hello there, handsome!” to my husband when he comes home to me ♥️. Hey, even my homecoming dress in 1986 was pink and black 😊. Pink and black is a classic, sharp look that never goes out, so why not use a little because as we all know fall foliage doesn’t just focus on orange. Here’s my sources for this part of the porch (but I hope you will read below because this porch keeps going to the left, and to the right, and I have to show you the new garage door and landscaping…

That BOHO lantern looks so cozy at night…

So…our porch is fairly long, but narrow. In all honesty we don’t sit on the front porch like I thought we would because the sun is in back of the house, and we have a beautiful gazebo back there. With that being said, I still wanted to create a welcoming front porch that was a little different than most. Adding large burgundy pillows, and a soft velvet blanket really helped soften the bench I recently put together all by myself. Here’s all my sources for this side of the porch if interested-take a load off, grab a hot toddy, and check out that fuzzy pink pumpkin that blends nice with our red brick…

The pumpkin vine you see in the front bed happened by accident when I threw a pumpkin seed in the mulch. I couldn’t believe it, but the little guy figured out a way to get into that mulch and sprout! We are hoping for a few little pumpkins, but honestly just watching the vine grow has been so exciting…I totally recommend trying to grow a pumpkin vine in your landscaping just for the fun of it 🎃.

The Full New Landscaping Reveal with New Light Post & Garage Door

Yippee! We treated ourselves to some new landscaping bricks, and guess what!? We didn’t do it ourselves, for once (getting too old). You see…our mulch was just not staying where it was supposed to, so this should help. We did the front, sides, and back. This contouring should also help with weed control.

Last but not least, we loved last year’s “Black Painted Garage Door” so much that we went for GUSTO this year. We went to Home Depot and ordered the real deal with windows and beautiful wood accents. TIP: We saved $4500 buying a white garage door, and then Rick painted it black. We topped everything off with the lamp post in the center that Rick and I put in ourselves. It’s solar (best photo of it is up above).

Well my friends, I will leave you with this…please let my husband know how amazing his grass is in the comment section below. He was worried that the landscapers left too many foot prints in it 😆. He has worked so hard making it so lush…it looks so soft you could actually lay on it, but don’t do that because then he will see your outline and get mad 😆
