I called my Dad and asked for his help.
Bob hopped in his car and came to the rescue.
He does that a lot.
Thanks, Dad!
He helped me take down our old, buggy, very cob webby, carriage lights.
1 year later, I finally figured out what to do with the old ones.
Actually, I thought of several things to do with them…
Lets go on a “Repurposed Carriage Light” tour, shall we?
This DIY Carriage Light Candle was easy.
All I had to do was clean off the old carriage light, and paint it.
I used Behr Ultra in Swiss Coffee.
Then I sanded it to give it that vintage look.
I flipped it over, plopped a pretty candle my Mom gave me in there, and it was ready to hang.
Of course this would be pretty inside as well, but I couldn’t resist the pretty Oak tree out back.
Then I got to thinking…
This thing looked like a vase to me.
The problem: how in the heck could I get water to stay in there?
If you look closely, you can see that there is a jar in there holding the water.
I suppose I could have clogged the holes with clear caulk, but that sounded way too difficult.
Besides, if I did that, my other idea wouldn’t work.
Here’s a third use which one of my followers told me to try!
I just stuck the top of one of my solar lights in there.
(solar lights can be found at the $1 store, and they unscrew easily)
So cute.
Finally, a fourth use.
Okay, so I already did a candle.
This one is upright though, and to me, looks like it was made to be this way.
Let me know which way you would use it!
One more thing, and then I have to go get groceries.
Last month, I shared how I transformed this old fondue pot into a cute bird feeder/birdhouse.
Stop by next week for a camp fire.
That’s the only hint I’m giving 🙂

love the candle one. got me to thinking you could put a solar light in there (without the stake) and it would charge up during the day and light up at night. thanks for all your inspiration.
Absolutely fantastic idea!!! Bravo!
I adore this makeover…so charming!
All great ideas……………..but Like the solar light which was my first thought after seeing your 1st. photo.
Great way of repurposing instead of landing in the land fill.
Great job
So adorable. Have taken solar light out and stuck them in lanterns and put them outside. Got love the love the $ Store right?
Thanks for your great projects and shares.
Am I surprised for such fantastic idea? Of course not! This idea is rocking good. Thank you!!!
