February has been one long month.
I won’t go into details, but lets just say it’s been crazy around here.
I’ve never wanted Spring so badly.
I’m fantasizing about weeding in my tank top & flip flops.
Day dreaming of grilled hotdogs, corn on the cob, Rick in his bathing suit shorts 🙂
…
Along with the -15 degree temperatures, comes an enormous gas bill.
When our power was out over Christmas, we hung sheets to keep the warmth in our kitchen.
Now you know where I’m headed with this post today.
Introducing my Gypsy Ruffled Curtain Panels

The room adjacent to our kitchen is my office (dining room turned office found here).
2 of the walls are all windows. brrrrr
After the storm, we ended up keeping the sheets up in the one door way because it’s so damn cold in there.
The sheets really helped keep the heat in the kitchen.
I would say at least a 10-15 degree difference.
When I came across these gorgeous, affordable curtains, a little voice said,
“Do it Red.”
They would be way prettier than the sheets.
So, I purchased 2 panels just the right length so they would drape the wood floor ever so slightly.
I also wanted the curtain rod to show at the top because I knew it would accentuate our corner hardware.
I used a mismatched curtain rod and pull backs.
It’s what I had.
They look cute from my office and will be great for privacy.
I can leave them open and pulled back several ways in the warm months.
or
I can close them on days like today when it’s -15 degrees.
I’m sure you’ve noticed, Sylvia loves them.
I thought I might have a problem when she started playing with them, but she stopped 🙂
She’s a female kitty, so I think she likes the femininity they add to the space.
I have actually fallen in love with them.
I think Rick likes them too (sh!)
Their texture is heavier than they appear.
I can’t wait to put them back like this when I can open up all of the windows and let the Spring breeze in.
I can easily take them down if I get tired of them.
Sylvia says…keep ’em up Red!
Here’s where I found mine.
They come in different colors and sizes.
These would be beautiful in any window too.
Have a nice weekend…
I’ll be sipping wine at night, and tea in the morning.
Both, while enjoying my Gypsy Ruffled Curtains.
We added the curtains to our 12 year olds room too!

XO
Beautiful curtains! I love the style and how they look with your décor, plus the extra warmth and gas savings is a real plus! Great idea! Hugs, Leena
Thanks Leena!
Julie, the curtains look so pretty and a perfect touch!
Hey, Cindy! Thanks for stopping by!
Hi Julie,
Saw your post on Hometalk. I just love this idea. We did a similar thing when building our garage. I stapled vapor barrier to the ceiling to keep the half we were working on warmer, and to save on the electricity the heater used until we installed our garage furnace. Worked like a charm! Of course your ruffled drapes are MUCH prettier!
Val
Pretty curtains! They add just the right amount of softness and frill to your doorway, what a great idea!
These are beautiful, Julie! Love white ruffles on anything!

[…] I ended up having a little fun with the decorating and wanted the kids to really enjoy it. I added a fun rug, a cool mirror, and big screen television. Before this, I had actually made our kitchen a “Coffee Lounge”. If you’re a subscriber you may remember. If not, check it out here: DIY Coffee Lounge. […]
