Good morning.

ย It was -9 degrees on our bathroom outdoor thermometer when I woke up at 6:15am today.

That is crazy cold.

Maybe this will warm you and me up ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a must see.

Enjoy!

Happy new year! Now that January is upon us, and the weather is freezing, my furniture makeover projects are a bit slow this time of year. Since it’s about five degrees outside these days, the projects in the garage will have to wait until warmer temps, but I can still show you some of my favorite ones that you might not have seen before. This is how to turn a coffee table into an ottoman.

Turn a Coffee Table into an Ottoman

This is the ottoman that lives in the living room. I have a special place in my heart for this project for a few reasons. One is because the coffee table I used to make this ottoman was found on none other than the side of the road by my house! Yep. On the way to work one morning I pulled my car over {in my heels and all} and piled pieces of this thing into my trunk and proceeded to drive to work!

I also love it because we use it absolutely every single day. Last, because I simply cannot get enough of that blue velvet fabric! I found it on clearance at a local fabric store that was closing. Looking back I wish I’d bought more of it, I think I only paid about $7 a yard, what a steal.

Make an Ottoman

This project is super easy if you’ve ever thought about doing it. See how I turned a coffee table into an ottoman on my blog and maybe you’ll find a free table to makeover of your own one day. Now you’ll know how to have a ottoman on a budget!

I added foam to the top, lots of batting, a cover simply stapled on and then a clip cover of the nice fabric so I could change it if I wanted to. Apparently I love the velvet that much, because it’s never come off!

See all the details and step by step of how I did this on my blog here. And let me know if you’ve ever made an ottoman. It’s so very comfortable when you are longing on the couch. A very common activity these freezing winter days ๐Ÿ™‚
