Recycled Christmas Lights

Oh my goodness.

Can you believe Christmas is 11 days away?
Are you ready?
I have baking, and wrapping left.
I’m not rushing it though…
my girls and I (Pop too), will be baking cookies this weekend.
We are making cutouts, and peppermint bark.
I will try to share if I can.

Oh!  By the way folks….
Jen and I have 2 winners today.
Today is the 3rd Friday of giveaways…
we still have next week, so keep stopping over :)

Winner of the 30 minute E-Design interior decorating consultation
 by Cynthia Weber is:
Juliette Mariano Carlson who left us a comment.

Winner of the men’s sunglasses goes to a new blog friend of mine,
who also left a comment,
Pat Freymuth, from Back Porch Musings.

Congratulations you lucky ladies!
I have sent you both e-mails :)

Earlier today I came across a couple of old photos I had the urge to share.
I love looking at photos this time of year, don’t you?

Hey Val…we sure get use out of that popcorn popper your sitting next to.
What are you looking at?

Can you tell I get rather nostalgic this time of year.  I think most of do.
That’s part of it, right?

I must move on though because I have a date with a ham at Kroger.
Earlier in the week I added some garland and lights to our door.
It’s looking quite festive, and you can even see the tree reflection in the sidelight.
I know, I’m a sucker for colored lights.
I grew up with colored, so it just feels right for us.

Regardless of the color…
did your lights die on you like mine did?
I must have replaced a dozen strings of lights this year.
It seems they all go at once.
It’s usually only 1/2 the strand too.
So, I started thinking…
What can I do with all of these dead lights that are heading to the garbage?
How about a little recycling?
The girls and I pulled off the dead lights,
and put them in a plastic ornament I got at Michael’s.
I added a little banner to it,
and I’m giving this to Rick in his stocking this year.
Clever, or not so?
Either way, he’ll love it, and we’ll share it year after year.
I was thinking white lights would have worked really well too.

Don’t forget when you are working with these lights to wash your hands after because they do contain led.

Before I go I wanted to let you know that the kitchen post is so close to being published.  I am really hoping it will come out next week.
I will try my hardest :)

Enjoy your weekend  and let me know what your up to.  XO
