I was craving pecan pie last night so I went on Pinterest and looked up “Pecan Pie Bars” and a recipe from Just a Taste came up. I didn’t have everything her recipe required, so I ended up adjusting it a little.
OH MY GOODNESS these were so good at 11:30pm last night, and even butter better at 1:00pm today. You see, my youngest is home sick, so we tried one, or 2. They were hot out of the oven last night so they hadn’t “set” yet. Well, today they are definitely “set”. They are absolutely delicious (better at room temperature). If you love pecan pie like me, these are definitely for you. They are easy to make, and easy to cut. I hope you try them.
They would be perfect for Thanksgiving, or NOW. GO MAKE THEM.
Make sure you have milk.
Ingredients
- Crust:
- 2 sticks salted butter (soft)
- 2/3 packed light brown sugar
- 2 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- Topping:
- 1 stick salted butter
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 teaspoons of half & half creamer (or 2 small creamers)
- 2 1/4 cups chopped pecans
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a 9x13 inch pan with tin foil.
Make crust by mixing first 3 ingredients until it forms a dough.
Press onto ungreased tin foil so it covers the bottom of pan.
Bake for 25 minutes.
While crust is baking, prepare topping by adding remaining ingredients (except pecans) to sauce pan and stir over medium heat until melted.
Add pecans last.
When crust is finished, add topping and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
Cool completely before cutting into bars.
Tip: the tin foil will lift right out of the pan and you can cut the bars on a cutting board.
Tip: Cool whip & milk go great!

Yes Bad Julie, now I have to make these awful looking things! I can tell just by the pic they are soooo full of calories. Oh well, we need to spoil us once in a while. Hope kiddo is feeling better. Thanks a bunch.
I know, don’t they look horrible, Carol? Geesh! Luckily I got my cholesterol results today AFTER I ate 2. Great timing! lol And yes, Val is feeling better 🙂 Have a good one, and hope you make them! I’m going to give some away. ~ Julie
I ate breakfast about two hours ago, now I am viewing your site and looking at your yummy looking pecan desserts and want to go into my kitchen and start baking some now! What stopping me? I don’t have all the ingredients, however, I will not let that stop me, because I will be buying the missing ingredients needed to try and make this pie. I just hope it looks and taste as yummy as I am sure yours are. You ALWAY ROCK! Thanks again for sharing.
You will love these, Ivory!
These look delicious- a perfect treat to pass!
Thank you, Jessy! They cut really easy, so they are so much easier than pecan pie 😉 Thanks for stopping by!! ~ Julie
Julie these have got to b outstanding greatjob
I can’t believe my sister just commented on my blog!! WOOHOO!!!!
I will have to make my own now. I have been purchasing them from the pie place in town (well outside of town now) and the only bad thing is, they put chocolate chips in them! It is hard picking out the chips. Now I won’t have to! Have you ever froze them? The whole pan would be too tempting.
Yes! Totally freezable!
