After many months of trial and error, my husband and I have created what we like to call “The Most Comfortable Bed of Your Dreams”. A gorgeous bed isn’t complete if you wake up in pain, or toss and turn all night long. Building a high quality nest is an investment that pays you back every single night, over and over, and I am sharing everything we have learned here with you today.

Gone are the days where we could sleep on the floor at slumber parties…remember doing that as a kid? How about the water bed stage? We had one of those bumpy things in our first apartment and I remember having to fix leaky holes from our cats claws ๐. I don’t miss that one bit, but we did what we had to at the time (they were cheap).
Now a days to get the most comfortable bed we need support, luxury, and quality. After all, we work hard all day and we deserve it. Your bed is where your body heals from all of the stress and anxiety, and it should be one of your favorite places (if not the most favorite) to be.
Let’s start with the mattress…
Our New Mattress for the Most Comfortable Bed

It had been 11 years since we moved into this house and when we moved in we invested in a new bed and mattress. We still love this canopy bed frame (the store we got it from is no longer in business), but we noticed that I was sinking into the mattress around 2 years ago. We weren’t surprised, I mean mattresses don’t last forever, but we were in denial about how bad it really was.
Eventually, I began to notice that my husband was sleeping in the middle of the bed ๐ค. At first I thought well, he loves me just let him, โค๏ธ. However, after a while I began to get angry. Not at him, but at our bed. I was literally sinking into the bed, and my husband was taking advantage of the big lump that developed in the middle. Can’t blame him, right?
We admit we didn’t “rotate” the bed as much as we were supposed to, but still, even when we did it didn’t help. It was time for a new mattress folks, and this is the one we finally settled on after weeks of research:

We took a huge risk with this mattress situation because we are in a middle of a pandemic and we couldn’t go into a store to try different mattresses. We had to rely on research, and reviews. Luckily, my husband is very very good at researching things, he’s a lawyer after all. He’s also the one who has really bad back pain, so he was on a mission to help heal his pain, while also addressing some of the needs I had (like move over pal!).
After contactless delivery, we had the mattress for 4 weeks and we are extremely happy with it (I would never recommend anything I didn’t use and love myself). The Stearns & Foster Estate Collection Rockwell Luxury Firm Pillowtop Mattress is a “firm” supportive mattress, however the luxurious pillowtop allows us to sleep on our stomach, side, or back without feeling like we are sleeping on a hard mattress. It’s basically the best of both worlds —> SUPPORT + LUXURY, plain and simple.
Next, to add even more relaxation to the most comfortable bed, we added a mattress heating pad which is a must for anyone that has inflammation or pain…
The Mattress Heating Pad

I am literally addicted to my Mattress Heating Pad. I use it every single night no matter what season it is because it warms up the bed before I get into it. Once I get in, I usually turn it on low, and then eventually when I warm up I turn it off. I also use it in the morning and it helps relieve any muscle pain I’m experiencing at the time. It’s way better than a “heating blanket” because it’s under you, and you have more control over it.
When we got the new mattress, I figured it would be a great time to get a new mattress heating pad as well. Unfortunately, it was not an easy task. In fact, I spent hours sifting through reviews, and ended up with very few that I would even consider. I ended up ordering one, and when it arrived it smelled horrible ๐. I thought possibly it would go away after a few minutes, but it did not. I had to search again, and ended up spending another 3 hours looking for my new BFF.

I got lucky the second time around and this Mattress Heating Pad is perfecto! It fits the bed beautifully (absolutely no smell whatsoever), the controls are simple to understand, and it doesn’t get too hot. We also have dual control so my husband doesn’t have to use his if he doesn’t want to. If you’ve never tried one, you are missing out.
The Mattress Pad

Ahhh…next up is the Bamboo Plush Pillow Topper Mattress Pad that goes over top the mattress heating pad (if you use both pads please read manufacturers safety recommendations on if it’s okay for you to use both).
This pillow topper mattress pad is absolutely AMAZING. I think you can tell how plump and fluffy it is in the photo above. It’s the perfect addition to the already comfortable mattress and heating pad, plus now my mattress has double protection.

Hi there Julie ๐ The link in your post looks like a different mattress than the Rockwell. The link on your Amazon page is, however. Can you clarify which one you got for me? Hubs & I are researching for ours, haha!
Hi Diane! Amazon switches things on us is it can be tricky. I would use my photos in the post, and ask your salesperson to compare. I know it can be so confusing.
PS Our mattress was (is) the Rockwell.
