Love Pie

Can you keep a secret about this “Love Pie”?  It was “BK”—-> before kids, and my husband and I lived in our second apartment.  I’m guessing about 1996, so I was 27.  I had become acquainted with the pretty Southern gal across the hall who would feed our cats (and me hers) when we would go on short trips back home to NY.  April and I ended up becoming best friends and still are to this day.  I was even the matron of honor in her wedding!  Apes (I call her Apes) loves to cook, and she’s very good at it.  She’s given me quite a few recipes over the years and this is one of the first back in those golden days.  There’s a little secret I must tell you before I give you the recipe, though.  When I remembered this recipe I also remembered what the REAL name was.  I asked my husband how in the world could I serve our kids pie that is called: “Better than Sex Pie”.   😯 Well, I can’t, now can I?  It just doesn’t seem appropriate.  Maybe when they are 30 and married 😀 .  So, now you know…the name “Love Pie” is just a cover up.  It’s really not “Love Pie” at all, but I just had to share it with you.  Feel free to call it whatever you like, just be careful who’s listening!

Enjoy the pie, and Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love Pie is really called "Better than Sex Pie" and it really is that good! It's filled with Oreos, cream cheese, whipped topping, and pudding!

Love Pie

Ingredients

  • Crust:
  • 28 crushed Oreo's
  • 1 stick softened salted butter melted
  • Middle Filling:
  • 1 8oz. cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 8 oz. (1/2 container) Cool Whip
  • Topping:
  • 2 small boxes of instant pudding (1 vanilla /1 chocolate)
  • 3 cups milk
  • 8 oz. (1/2 container) Cool Whip
  • extra Oreos for decorating

Instructions

Put 28 Oreo's in plastic zip bag and crush them with the flat side of a meat tenderizer, or rolling pin.

Melt butter in microwave for a few seconds and press both the crushed Oreo's and butter into a 9x13 baking dish. No need to bake it.

In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and confectioners sugar first. Then fold in cool whip (don't forget to save half of that 16 oz. container of Cool Whip for later).

Spread cream cheese mixture on top of Oreo crust.

In medium bowl, mix instant puddings and milk until it begins to thicken.

Spread pudding mixture over cream cheese filling.

Spread remaining Cool Whip on top, and then decorate by sticking a few Oreo's into the Cool Whip and I also like to take an Oreo and rub it against my cheese grater to make chocolate snow.

Spread the Love! <3
