Simple Summer Picnic Recipes

Facebooktwitterpinterestmail

If you watch the television show the “Housewives of Orange County”, you have probably noticed when these gals have a party, or a “picnic” outdoors they always have it catered by the pool.  Yah, they may have their husband over by the grill with a beer in his hand, but you just know that he wasn’t the one that had to defrost that chicken from Costco himself  😆  Well, at my house it’s a bit different.  We cook everything ourselves, and have gotten pretty darn good at it.  That brings me to today’s post which is all about these “Simple Summer Picnic Recipes” from the DIY Housewives.  By DIY I mean “do-it-yourself” instead of paying someone else to do it. There are several recipes to select from below and we may even throw in a little decorating for fun.

Lucky for me, when I met my husband in the late 80’s in college, he knew how to make this incredible “Tomato & Cucumber Salad” from scratch.  I’m not talking about store bought dressing, either.  It’s made with olive oil and is perfect for any salad you whip up.  We would walk to the Italian market down the road from his frat house and buy the fresh ingredients every Sunday.  So, this is my contribution to today’s picnic, but there are more below, so be sure to check out all of the DIY Housewives below…

Love your salads with olives and you are right they are a good snack, add interest to salads and like my Dr. said the Mediterranean diet is a good thing (not just a diet) to keep in mind when eating right matters to you.
Guess what… olives are on the list! Gotta try these recipes thanks Julie.
