Welcome to our Laundry Room Makeover Part 3 (with part 4 the big reveal coming up next Friday)! If you missed Part 1 & Part 2 you can find those here: “How to Strip Wallpaper” and “DIY Wood Tongue-and-Groove Siding“. I guess I give the third part away in the title: “Vintage Turquoise Rug”, don’t I? Well, I did warn you guys early on in this laundry room transformation that I wanted color. Well, I DEFINITELY GOT IT .
Are you ready for some wow factor? Let’s go check it out…
This beautiful vintage style turquoise rug is a bit of a chameleon, so I tried to capture all of those shades of blue and green for you in these photos. This next one shows off it’s darker tones. Can you see the vintage army green in there? That is my favorite part.
There was just no way I was going neutral for the rug choice in this gorgeous room. I just couldn’t do it. Nothing against anyone that loves neutral, but I am just tired of it. I feel as though if I put a neutral colored rug in here it would just be like every other room I see. I just had to have color. The green in this rug has stolen my heart. I could literally get my blanky and pillow and take a nap right there in the middle of my new turquoise rug because I do love it that much.
Here’s the other thing I had to consider… DIRT. This is where we come and go and this is where we put on and take off our dirty, greasy, grimy shoes. Okay, maybe our shoes aren’t that bad, but still. I needed a rug that wouldn’t show all the little road salt pebbles and dirt. This rug will do that for me.
I love how it looks like it’s been in this room for years because of the vintage over dyed look.
It looks clean, fresh, and ready for whatever we dish out in there, maybe even a little drama at times 😀 . I also feel it brightens up the space and gives it more of a modern edge because of the bright, cool color up against our white walls. It says, “Well, hello my fair weathered friend. Welcome home!”
Now you’re wondering what I’m going to do on that wall aren’t you? You’re also wondering where the heck are my laundry baskets and laundry for that matter. You may even be wondering what happened with the light fixture fiasco? Well, all of this is coming up next Friday. The 4th and final phase will be out of the closet, literally. I can’t wait to show you the final touches.
If your interested in my new favorite rug, you can find all of the information right here:

Hey, Julie
Where did you get your brown paper dispenser roll that you painted and placed with mollies to the side of your hutch?
I ordered one from Amazon that I thought was like yours but what I got was not as heavy duty as the one you have.
Just wondered!
It’s been so long, I don’t remember, Beth. So sorry!
