Garden Lantern

One of the reasons I hoard love lanterns is because they are so versatile.  I use them all over the house, in every room, inside, outside, for holidays, for parties, for no reason at all.  They are affordable, easy to move around, and they make everything look prettier.  Lanterns are perfect for when you want a little light, but don’t want to spend a fortune on a light fixture.  They also make perfect gifts.

So, how do you like my “Garden Lantern”?  I originally hung this monster over our mantel, but grew tired of it there.  It was just overload.  My husband and I carried it around outside looking for a perfect spot for it.  We finally found the perfect spot here in our hosta weed garden.  Yep, you read that right.  A lot of those flowers are weeds, but aren’t they pretty?  Weeds rock.

If you look closely, you will see the little led lights I placed inside.  It almost looks like some fire flies are having a party in there.

If you missed it a couple weeks ago, I shared a cute “Lemon Tablescape” on our side porch.  While I was out there I realized the lantern looked pretty, but needed a candle in it.  It’s way too hot for that, so that was when I remembered I had several strands of fairy led battery operated lights.  If you need some, you can get them here.  I also found a really cute lantern here.

The light strands have wire in them so it made it very easy to manipulate them so they looked like they were floating inside the lantern.  I also poked the last light through the tiny hole on the top of the lantern.  See them?

Here’s another fun way to use lanterns for Christmas…just fill them with Christmas lights and ornaments.  You can see more about that idea here: “Christmas Decorating Like they do in the Magazines”

The lanterns with lights are so pretty, can visualize how they’d be at night. Especially love your Christmas vignette, just gorgeous, very special.
I have several lanterns altho are mostly in small size. Could elevate couple to give more interesting look in vignette. Seems whenever I see bigger lanterns on sale are still over my resources, someday.
Enjoyed your post very much, inspired me. This is my first time on this venue, think will come back more often to see what’s happening.
