DIY Rustic Jewelry Display

I have been “nesting” like crazy, lately.  Am I pregnant?  Absolutely not!  It must be the new year, or new moon, or new sneakers-I don’t know why, I tell you.

Either way…I have a fun post today full of great tips for organization, and cleaning.  Notice, I put the word FUN in there.  Okay, so maybe organizing and cleaning isn’t really fun, but I think some of my “Unique Jewelry Storage Ideas” may tickle your fancy.

Unique Jewelry Storage Ideas

Lets start with that one that looks like a board on a wall.  Well, that’s exactly what it is.  A board on a wall.  I call it my “DIY Rustic Jewelry Display”.  Yes, I actually screwed this board (my husband helped) into the wall studs, so I could hang nails randomly for our daughters to display their jewelry, or hair accessories.  Just screw in your board after you measure from floor molding to ceiling.  Clever?  Not really.  Convenient?  Yes.  Totally cool looking?  Without question.  And if we move I can take it with us.

I used extra stained wood from our DIY Wood Planked Ceiling.  Waste not want not, I had to use it somewhere.  This seemed perfect, and our daughters are actually using it.  Mission accomplished.

Oh, and I used old fashioned style nails that can be found here.  I didn’t measure between nails, I just winged it because I like rustic.  You can totally customize what you need.  Larger nails would look pretty for your scarves, or hand bags.

Check out those red pumps.

Here’s another very affordable idea for organizing jewelry…I used a couple branches from our yard and a slice of a tree to make this DIY Tree Branch Jewelry Stand.  This sits on our dresser and I love it.

This one is a silver tray from the thrift store.  Probably the prettiest out of the bunch.  The easiest, too.  Just hang  your stuff.  Done.  I found one for you here if you can’t find one at the thrift store.Jewelry Silver Tray

Here’s another thrift store beauty.  The little mint-aqua roses make me crave wedding cake, lol.  This one took a little more work, and I used mine as a candle holder at first.  Now, my daughters have it on their bathroom vanity filled with trinkets.  You can find the full tutorial and before photos here: Jewelry Box Makeover.Jewelry Box MakeoverWhen I first began blogging, and before I painted our bedroom white, I decided my earrings were pretty enough to display on our wall.  I used everyday nails with a large head, and then I attached little gems at the end of the nails to make it look more finished.  This would be great for a teens bedroom.

*The holes can be patched easily if the time comes.  All you need is a little spackle and a puddy knife.  Spread spackle over holes, let dry, and sand smooth with sand paper.

And lastly…one of my favorite ideas is to dress a lamp with sentimental jewelry.  I combined my sweater, with my Mom’s mother of pearl bracelet to makeover this very dated lamp from the thrift store.  You can see the full before and after shots here: Old Sweater & Jewelry Lamp Makeover.  (By the way, the bracelet is removable so I can still wear it.)
