Crockpot Bling

Facebooktwitterpinterestmail

I am a NASCAR fan.  Yep…I am!  I fell in love with the sport when we lived in Florida.  My husband took me to the Daytona 500 on a date and I couldn’t believe the excitement there. I couldn’t wait to go back and eventually I started following a driver who was not only cute, but he had his engineering degree (so you know he’s smart), and he started a foundation for animals (sensitive too!).  Pretty cool guy, and I even got to meet him in person.  So…that explains the Ryan Newman crockpot.  My cute, sweet, sensitive husband got it for me for Christmas.  It’s really nice.  Very big, shiny black interior, etc.  Only one problem…

Crockpot Bling Idea

I used it so much, that the handle on top wore out and cracked.  Lucky for me the glass top was fine, so I could still use it.  I used it for years (okay months) without a handle.  I had to use pliers to open and close it.  See…look here:

I had just accepted it for what it was…a Ryan Newman Crockpot without a handle.  I got over it.

Then one day I got really lucky.  I mentioned my broken handle on Facebook, and a wonderful follower and friend suggested I replace it with a knob.

WHY THE HYELL DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT?

She is brilliant I tell you.  So, thank you my dear friend in crockpot follower land.  You rock!  I had the perfect knob for the crockpot, all I had to do was unscrew the screw, and put it on.  Super easy.

So…I got to thinking.

What about my other mini crockpot that I use for spinach dip? That would look cute with some bling, too.

So, I switched out the plain white handle with this cute clear glass one.

Then I got a little crazy and started thinking about my pots.  How fun, to just try it.  So, I tried it.

How cute.  This one was perfect for our DIY Brick Backsplash Tutorial image.

So, if you’re having company for the holidays, and you want them to tell you how pretty your crockpot is, go ahead and give “Crockpot Bling” a try.  Just for fun.

OMG- I love the NASCAR crock pot!!!! Now I will have another excuse to pick up more- because we all have a different driver. If I buy one for everyone- I will have 8 slow cookers in the house 🙂 There are times when I would use them all at once.

What a great idea. My husband makes wooden ones for me. We replace other Knobs and handles with pretty ones. Why not crockpots. I have antique ones.

I had the same broken handle and also used the pliers method. I finally solved my problem with a champagne cork. So cute and doesn’t conduct heat!

I had the same issue with a cast iron Dutch oven I found for a steal…it was missing the knob. I knew I’d need something ovenproof though, so straight to the craft store ( coupon in hand), and bought an adorable cast iron, white washed flower knob, meant for a dresser, I’m sure. It withstands the heat of the oven, and looks beautiful on my cooktop! ?
